Got my left thumb amputated from a work injury, I can't use my left hand at all and am on leave from work, games were my only hobby and I can't even good a controller or use a keyboard.

Just went to an arcade though about a week ago and has a shit ton of fun playing time crisis style games. Played star trek one that was absolute shit that your pistol only hold about 8 rounds and the reload only registers when it wants to, but it had a comfy place to sit and nice sound.

Anyways what's some games I can pay one handed.
Are there any of you that are disabled in some way? How do you get around it.

Can't think of any one handed games.

If you find a game where you don't need to use the left shoulder buttons, you could try using your left palm to move the control stick. It'd take practice but if you have elbow or wrist control its doable.

Op here, thumb was sheared off in piston like apparatus. Just the tip from bottom of thumbnail onward, it was luckily reattached but the breaking process is long, bone was sheared off in the process and the metal hook is holding the the two bones together so that they can fuse. You can see them separated near the top. Even my left hand fingers can't be used since moving them causes pain on my thumb

Thanks for the suggestions, rts was never my thing but I'll definitely try them out now.

They would only amputate the last joint in that situation, and he'd still be plenty able to game without the last joint of his thumb. My brother lost his by not being careful around a saw, and he still games just fine both on PC and console.

Also amputations aren't disabling in the slightest anymore. Just get a good prosthesis.

Any RTS, point n click adventure, almost all RPG, anything turn based, most ARPG, a lot of MMOs.

Especially if you have a mouse with lots of buttons.

Also always keep your eyes on your hands when working with machinery, you idiot.

I lost the last joint of my left ring finger when I was 7 or 8. A kid pushed me down a shale stone cliff and I got cut up all over pretty bad. Thanfully they were able to reattach that finger. Now it's just kinda stiff and not flexible, and often feels cold even when it's not really cold.

Fucking shale stone is sharp shit.
>>
>>344121356
Most controllers only let the left hand use an analog and two buttons, a xbox elite controller would be sufficient by just mapping the LR / LB buttons to the lower right hand buttons at the bottom when his hand heals, that way he could still play with the index finger on the analog.

"Accident" where he's the one to blame. If you can't watch where you're putting your limb, don't work in a factory.

Honestly the only "accident" where the victim isn't at fault is if you're working on repairing a machine and you've properly locked it and some tool just unlocks it and starts it anyway. Which I've had happen. Beat the fucker mercilessly. Seriously had that shit marked, tagged, locked and he just takes that all off and starts it up. Still mad to this day.

My dad used to play a lot of games with a controller even though he only had one arm. He always played on the hardest difficulty available and didn't stop until he finished every game he started.

Don't worry anon, you can still play lots of games. It's gonna take some time to practice and you may not be able to play every game or genre but it's still doable.

And yet people will find a way to circumvent those to get themselves killed, and then the machine is blamed for being too dangerous. But it's not. A machine doesn't have intentions or anything. It's 100% the human's fault.

>>344123998
>do you not understand the concept of an accident?

So did his hand get a life of its own and move under the piston by itself, and then the piston magically activated to crush his thumb?

No. HE put his hand under the piston while it was function. He did not pay attention to what he was doing. No one else did. There is no one else to blame than him.

And it's the same with almost everything we call an accident. Hell I could even make a case that getting hit by a car while quietly walking on the sidewalk is your fault because you willingly chose to incur the risk of walking along the road instead of not doing so for the sake of convenience.

The point is, only you control your actions, only you control the situations you put yourself in. Everything is a choice between danger and convenience.

But now we live in a society where people are never to blame. They should never suffer the consequences of their actions. And it's bullshit.

>But now we live in a society where people are never to blame. They should never suffer the consequences of their actions. And it's bullshit.
I agree, but let's be honest here, companies sometimes don't bother training their employees on safety. If OP was never given proper safety gear or instructions then dividing the blame may be just.

No reason to get in a huff, I never said it was 100 percent fool-proof.

>it's 100% the humans fault

Agreed, that's why OSHA exists.

My sides.

>dividing the blame may be just.

It's not dividing the blame, it's multiplying it. No matter the circumstances, only he controls his actions. If the company failed at training or safety features or equipment, they are to blame for that on top of him being to blame for not watching out for himself. It doesn't lessen his failure, it only creatures more failure from other parties.

Did you not read the rest? I was making an extreme example of the "convenience vs risk" choices we make every day. Obviously in the case everyone will chose the convenience instead of the risk because the balance is so skewed.

But it's still your choice to make. Now in the case of OP, his convenience was "not being watchful" and the risk was "losing a limb". Clearly he picked wrong in this case.

>if you leave your house to buy groceries and get run over it's your fault for leaving your house and not spending the rest of your days cocooned in safety

My sides. This is a logic of a 14 year old who pretends that he has unlocked some deep knowledge by dipping his toesies into relativism. Get yourself out of here, underage.

>don't learn how to properly handle tool

>"oh it's your fault!"

That's silly, you're silly anon.

Who's going to have the last laugh when you're dead under a semi and I'm in my safety cocoon, faggot?

Wait a decade for the tech to come out to replace your thumb.

On the other hand (no pun intended), if you can ever get past the balance changes from losing your thumb, I think you can still handle a mouse just fine, so PC gaming should still be accessable.

>>don't learn how to properly handle tool
>>get into accident because of lack of knowledge

Why are you trying to work with tools you don't know how to handle? Isn't that like going out for a joyride when you don't know how to drive, crashing, and blaming your parents for leaving their keys out?
>>
>>344127494

Legally, the company who's equipment you were using would be at fault. Why are you allowed to use said tools if the company wasn't confident of your ability to work with it safely?

Fucking homo.

Not every workplace is good about teaching you how not to make mistakes.

I remember working a truck dock at Kohl's and having to jump into compactors to unstick the cardboard that was being thrown in there and sometimes getting scraped up.

I could've been crushed by the compactor too if it had turned on at any time by chance.

Very, very illegal on the companies part.

Yes they are at fault, but again, only you control your actions. Why would you use equipment you don't know how to use, especially if it's dangerous to the point of causing life threatening injury?

Actually now that I think about it more, possibly this is my biased point of view because I understand the inherent danger of machinery, so I would never interact with some without proper training, but others might think that they know enough to be safe?

Literally anything can be played.

I mean if a complete paraplegic could play path of exile trough a straw on hardcore, then you might manage just good with 1 hand.

>Yes they are at fault, but again, only you control your actions. Why would you use equipment you don't know how to use, especially if it's dangerous to the point of causing life threatening injury?

Because I was told I have to do this to keep my job. You'll understand one day.

My brother has DMD, he's progressed to the point where he can really only point and click a mouse slowly. Any game that requires fast inputs or manual dexterity is out and any game that requires keyboard inputs is out.

Lately he's been playing darkest dungeon, but he'll call me down to press shift for him occasionally anytime he needs to drop items.

Some games he can get by with the on-screen keyboard, but many don't recognize it.

>Because I was told I have to do this to keep my job. You'll understand one day.

I was told this more than once and I refused every time. I have never lost my job to it because I made my case.

Might be different in the USA though. Here Quebec, work safety has priority over anything. Any complaint to the board puts a company in serious hot water. I would honestly say that safety is often taken too seriously. A factory I worked at had a gestapo-like system where employees would receive bonuses for telling on other employees they'd seen do things outside of safety code.

Kek, enjoy being a cuck. Even the lowbiest of people in my place can tell me no, when i give them a job to do if they have a good enough excuse (equipment not up to par, not knowing how that shit works, dangerous situation that requires an expert), and i just have to let it go. Its not anything against who refused the work, it would be also my head that rolls if anything actually happened. Safety > anything else. Because when something happens, you are in so much fucking shit even if you did everything according to rules (EU here).

I agree with your point of "its your fault, you weren't paying attention and got yourself hurt" around dangerous machinery but arguing that its the pedestrian's fault for getting hit by a car while walking on the sidewalk is fucking retarded. The sidewalk is there to provide a place for people to walk, and of someone driving hits someone on the sidewalk, its the driver's fault because they aren't supposed to be there, just like a jaywalker is at fault for getting hurt since they weren't supposed to be in the road.
