Just started witcher 3 any tips or tricks you guys got for me?
>>
>>344115520
At one point a man will die if you won't know how to play gwent
>>
>>344115520
>step one
Take out Witcher 3 disc
>step two
Put in trash
>>
Play on hard
>>
>>344115520
>Tricks

You won't need them, game is easy as shit
>>
>>344115520
It's basically a movie set in an open world. Prepare to run through empty country side for minutes in between cutscenes or dealing with trash mobs that only require mashing x to win. It's a game for people to don't enjoy actual games.
>>
>>344116408
I'm playing on blood and bones the one before the hardest
>>
Ignore anyone who trashtalks the game completely, it's fantastic and even with the various issues it has, still manages to be the best open world game of all time.

A good tip is to get good at Gwent, lots of opportunities to earn money from it and good cards from the various inkeepers, merchants, traders, your friends, sometimes enemies. Great minigame, so good they're making a full standalone game out of it.
>>
>>344115520

Pro-Tip; dont neglect alchemy.
>>
>>344116495
>>344116746
This is why you play on hard. Not death march btw the second hardest one.
>>
Remember that /v/ loved the Witcher until it became mainstream
>>
>>344117029
>best open world game of all time
Is it meme day? It's not even a good open world game let alone the best
>>
>>344117152
Death March is easy, you'd know this if you played on it. All I did was spam igni and quen and steamrolled everything.
>>
The only real tricks are the alchemy and sign skill trees. The game makes it seem like these trees should be things you can invest heavily in. Well, they're pretty much shit and you're not ever going to be able to throw more than a few bombs or do more than some minor DOT damage with your spells, so put points into the fucking sword tree.
>>
Use quen if your having a hard time with a fight, shits really strong. Go to the question marks on the map, easy way to make money (buy selling the gear you get) and get level up points.
>>
>>344117210

I respect your opinion, but I completely disagree with it. The Witcher 3 has not failed to satisfy and has in fact made sure that any other open world rpg game I might play in the future is immediately compared to it. I dare say that when I do that, it will come up wanting compared to The Witcher 3.

invest in the arrow deflection combat skill right away. it's only three points. also, you're a witcher and what separates witchers from your average swordsmen is your ability to make use of alchemical potions without dying

Yea it's pretty disappointing. The first few hours are rough but once you get some decent gear especially the witcher armor it get's a bit too easy. My biggest gripe with the gameplay is the ai is too predictable.
>>
>>344117783
This. Ursine armor is OP, even on deathmarch you take fuck all damage.

I went feline purely for the deeps but even then the only somewhat challenging fights were in the DLC.
>>
>>344118060
i don't need to refute it in the same way i don't need to refute someone who argues the sky is purple.
>>
>>344118047
So pretty much the same as The Witcher except you get some generic forests to run through?
>>
>>344117780
Just remembered something else, buy every gwent card you see from the inn keepers, at first it will be hard because you wont have much money tho.

Some choices in the game are kinda vague and misleading and makes Geralt do something or say something else I would reload when that happened other than that I would stick with my choices and try not to read anything online about it. I think it ruins the story if you read too much online.
>>
>>344118216
RDR was dull as piss visually. no idea why everyone loves that game so much.
>>
Play skyrim or dragon age inquisition instead
>>
>>344118189
>I'm just going to move the goal posts and hopefully he won't notice.
>>
>>344115520
Put a point in gourmet. makes the game easymode even on death march.
>>
>>344118069
I ran into this issue. It gets even worse with the enemies in Blood & Wine. No tactics; no variation; just an stream of human bandits charging endlessly forward.
>>
Play on hard mode.

While you can sleep around with women in the game with no consequences, only confess your love to one.

Gwent is fantastic

Use potions, they help a lot. Swallow revives health and is very helpful. Build your character around using the Quen sign. This sign allows you to avoid taking damage until your shield breaks. Extremely helpful
>>
>>344118347

real advice here

the two skills in the first alchemy row that increase tolerance and increase overdose threshold are massive boosts for little skill investments, by the time you have all the recipes those two alone will let you use 3 decoctions and a few potions at once, completely trivializes the game even on deathmarch

buy every gwent card you see

play story NPCs for their gwent cards before you do quests involving them

Every boss aside from the first in B&W requires tactics along with Shaelmaars and the centipedes.
>>
>>344118527
The game has more cutscenes than The Last Of Us, Uncharted 4 and The Order 1886 combined, and you are seriously arguing it's not a movie? You are full on retarded. All the game consists of is cutscenes and dealing with trash mobs which are interspersed with exploring a dull empty overly large world. Deal with it, your favourite game is a movie with hours of running from point a to point b.

Tip:

As you level, hunt for recipes as best you can. Specifically, potions, bombs, and decoctions.

Level combat and sign skills exclusively until about 25. Then, head to novigrad and acquire something called the potion of clearance.

With all your freshly cleared points, spec into alchemy. By now, you should have found a decent chunk of recipes. Learn what they do, they're almost all useful in their own ways.

Equip ursine gear, become an unkillable, bomb hurling, buffed-to-hell-and-back, god like creature comprised of fury and malice.

Fuck the David Beckham look-a-like over when you get the chance and pick the bottomless bottle of vodka. Enjoy unlimited everything.

Win the game.

Get to Toussaint, switch to Manticore armor, ascend even higher.

Note: This is only fun on Death March, alchemy builds blow through everything like kleenex on lower difficulties to the point where there really isn't any point in playing.

>>
>>344118926
OP do blood & wine last of all, it's meant to be played in order of release for maximum satisfaction imo.
>>
>>344118749
Nothing survived long enough to require the use of tactics on Blood and Broken Bones. Even centipedes died in 4 hits; just get 2 in and back away from the curl. The Shaelmaars were the only things that didn't die immediately and only because of lolarmor. Not terribly difficult, but it wasn't brainless at least, that's something.

>>344118927
definitively dull and empty, yeah. They advertised it as an "open world" game yet there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING out in the open world. Few monster nests, bandits around a chest, some witcher gear, big monster here and there. literally like 1/30 the content of a bethesda game.

It's a cool game but let's be real, Witcher 3 has a better world, a better minigame, better gameplay, more memorable everything, and a better mc.

Play MGSV, it has much better horse controls.
The sole fact that the horse automatically jumps over obstacles is a huge improvement, not to mention that when doing the automatic run thing it makes random choices when you have two paths in front of you.

He just keeps sprinting into walls, and sometimes I even had to get off the horse because he got stuck in places where he should be able to reach.

Not to mention how even when moving from automatic roads he may randomly stop in his tracks for absolutely no reason.

You'd be surprised.
I went through the game on release and used only Blizzard and Swallow. Went to NG+ for HoS and B&W and dabbled in the Alchemy tree. With all the formulae, your Toxicity max can go up to 200+ , the Overdose threshold allows you stack more deconcotions without losing HP, and you can go above the 70% mark to keep potions on for 30+ minutes.

Add the Alchemy mutation where you do more damage for each point of Toxicity and I was swinging for 8ks on crits. It's absurd how useful Alchemy is once you build it right. 9 Cluster-bombs for each bomb is insanity.

MGSV would have been a better game if it had GZ style maps and missions. Sorry bud, MGSV not only ruins any expectations it's demo gave, but it effectively tarnishes any memory of its own series.

The only negative to GZs reception was rightfully that this Kojima asshole thought he could sell a demo for 20 dollars.

Aside from that TPP has not one mission that is better or more complex or difficult than GZ. TPP is a godless abomination that should be ditched in a hole in New Mexico by comparison
>>
>>344129936
>Aside from that TPP has not one mission that is better or more complex or difficult than GZ

There's no difficulty in GZ.
There's two prisoners, you have to take them to the heli.

There's one of those filler missions where you have to rescue two targets before the escort arrives and takes them away.
That alone is more complex than GZ.
>>
>>344129608

>even if they wanna claim that he did most of that after he began to lose his emotions.
How you can literally type this out and still come to your conclusion, I've no fucking clue. Olgierd's crimes are near universally the direct result of the curse O'Dimm inflicted upon him.

The only mistake he made was in agreeing to the deal in the first place. Something he did in a moment of desperation. O'Dimm knew this, which is why he targeted him. No different than when he targeted Geralt after he was captured by the Ofieri.

>>344129651
>Olgierd worded his wish precisely because he knew Gaunter would use any weak point to turn it against him
Huh? No he fucking didn't. He gave you seemingly impossible tasks because he didn't want you to succeed. His wish was simply to regain his stolen fortune, win his love, and live each day as if there were no tomorrow. O'Dimm twisted this, rendering him immortal and cold. Nothing about this suggests Olgierd knew what he was getting into and had tried to precisely word his wish to avoid issue.

And? Those were only the conditions upon which O'Dimm got his soul. It's obvious that Olgierd expected O'Dimm to be true to the spirit of the agreement. Instead, he twisted the wish and rendered Olgierd immortal and unfeeling.

This is precisely what is meant by "good faith." O'Dimm emphasizes the letter of the contract and ignores the spirit because it's to his benefit. He knows exactly what Olgierd wished for, but he doesn't care. His only goal is to harvest souls.

Whether Olgierd though O'Dimm would deal in good faith or not is immaterial. O'Dimm didn't. He twisted the wish because it got him what he wanted. Why you're defending this monkey paw motherfucker, I've no fucking idea.
>>
>>344132097
I'm not, at least not in what you're trying to do. And I can. Because they're not related.
One is my personal morality that I exercised in a game. The other is a general morality regarding our society, a society that is in no way like the one dealt with in said game. There are no magical, mythical monsters we deal with in everyday life. Just the human ones.

You done proselytizing yet?
>>
>>344132583
How can you possibly be this stupid? The existence of magic and monsters doesn't change anything. Do you also think science fiction can't say anything about the modern world because of spaceships and virtual reality?

The fact that O'Dimm is literally bargaining for souls means that his contracts should require even greater scrutiny to be deemed ethical, not less.
>>

>>
>>344132542

Because his reasoning doesn't matter. He's a human and Offered is evil incarnate. You're a pussy and failed at everything a Witcher is supposed to stand for
>>
>>344132940
You're the one frantically raving about how our society doesn't allow or condone Gaunter's shit and I pointed out that our reality and the Witcher setting are not the same and so shouldn't be held to the same standards. We don't even have souls while obviously entities in the Witcherverse do, or at the very least some form of crucial life-giving essence. Can you not separate fantasy and reality?

Look here chucklefuck; I gave you my reasons and the reasons behind those damn reasons. You disagree by claiming some objective, moral prerogative that you insist exists and that anyone who doesn't see it is blind and stupid. You're projecting your own framework onto a world that clearly isn't suited for it and you're acting like a petulant child to anyone who disagrees.

I'm also not debating the ethics involved. People make mistakes. Olgierd made his. Geralt may have made one in my game by siding with Gaunter. But we'll never know.

Now kindly fuck off back to whatever hole you crawled out of.

>Can you not separate fantasy and reality?
Once again, you're completely retarded. Fantasy has no bearing on this. Whether O'Dimm's contract is ethical has nothing to do with the fact that O'Dimm is some sort of demon. Like I said, if you think the fact that this is fantasy changes anything, then you should be even more critical of O'Dimm's deals. In the real world, you stand to lose property, money. In this fantasy world, you stand to lose your soul. Why the fuck do you think the one with far greater consequences should face less scrutiny?

>I gave you my reasons and the reasons behind those damn reasons.
Your reasoning was that Olgierd entered into the agreement, therefore he lives with the consequences. But unless you're a fucking idiot, simply entering into an agreement doesn't mean you must abide by all terms. Unless you also believe capitulating to blackmail or coercion means you're irrevocably tied into those agreements, too.

O'Dimm specifically preys on the desperate and then refuses to abide by the spirit of the agreement except where it suits him. He's explicitly a predator, a collector of souls. He says this himself, for fuck's sake. But instead of recognizing him as targeting the desperate and helpless, you act as though he proposes these agreements in good faith and on equal terms.

If you truly believe this, you are retarded. If you can't deal with being called on this, then stop publicly saying retarded things.
