Have you not been paying attention? The ZE universe, causality isn't linear. The morphogenetic field thing posits that information is stored outside of space time. Perceiving something provides feedback to reality which then retroactively changes according to that perception.

It always astounds me that people give him shit, when the series had actually fucking died prior to the fans sending their hopes and dreams into the morphogenetic field.
He's also clearly mind-numbingly thankful and it's clear he put everything he could into ZTD.
I think he did a solid job with the limited funding he had. My only major complaints with ZTD are regarding a few unanswered questions; MOST of which aren't even critical details.

If you're wondering why you'd want to delete your save data, it's because Delta is "mind hacking" your save files.
If you have a 100% completed save file then Delta won't ask you how you managed to figure out the force quit box passwords, because he'll know you already "knew" them from a previous save.

However i've read a synopsis and watched most of it on YouTube (yeah yeah i know neo /v/ and all) and... what the fuck?
First of all, why did they decide for this cutscene format? It's horrible! It completly kills the pacing of the game and sucks away all the mannerism of the character in the game, sigma literaly spend most of the game frowning and being cross armed like he's a fucking indian, that's not how it should be
And some of the reveal are fucking ridiculous, brother is some random dude who also happen to be phi brother for no reason, commiting genocide in order to stop genocide is beyond retarded, and one of the plot points involve aliens in the same way "a wizard did it" would and nothing get resolved in the end! It just ends with another stupid cliffhanger since the genocide is still going to happen
It seems to me that the only value in the game are in seeing the returning character and all the way they get horribly murdered (something that was missing from the previous game)

My guess was that Delta/Seanbots made the puzzle, not Mira, and they did so to get Carlos/Akane feeling mad enough to slay each other.
+ Having seen Joonpays head in a few other sections, suddenly being in a fragment in which he's missing, and finding fakebutobviouslynotactuallyfake body parts around was a really spooky moment. The build up and tension was nice. Only reason I even vaguely remember that otherwise boring puzzle room.
Hell, the way the camera really slowly creeps around the corner to where you know Junpeis head is makes me feel like they intended for the player to do that bit after seeing his dismembered head in other sections.

Alice and Mira are the only two characters in the series that I feel full on detract from the games they're in, rather than add to.
Some characters only add minor amounts, and sometimes that minor amount is annoying, but at least they serve a purpose.

Really disappointed in ZTD's atmosphere. I expected a repeat of 999, but it doesn't even come close. I would even go as far to say VLR had a better atmosphere, at least that game was consistent with its Si-Fi atmosphere.
It's certainly more gory, but it's hard to get immersed in the game when you're playing random chunks at a time and it's split between three different groups with no main protagonist. The cinematic style also probably hurt this aspect as well, it's harder to get more intimate with a protagonist when you're not seeing things through his limited and weak eyes. Not to mention the choices didn't feel impactful since they didn't affect the game long term, like the AB game in VLR where your decisions affect hours of linear gameplay for a timeline. In 999 and VLR, you had to live with your choices (for long periods of time), in ZTD your choices are just garbled together and spat out at random. Stuff like the music and graphics hurt the atmosphere as well. The majority of ZTD's soundtrack are repeats of VLR songs, which fit a Si-Fi atmosphere rather than a horror one. As for the graphics, what made 999 great was how grounded it was, it had a drab and grey color palette with semi-realistic backgrounds. It all added to it. ZTD has blocky and cell-shaded 3D models, shit doesn't fit.

Well like i said, Sigma still has the ability to fuck up, we know this because you create the VLR timeline in ZTD. So that timeline needs to be stable or there would be no do-overs. if Akane didn't make it, there wouldn't be a way for Old Sigma to get into Young Sigma and try again.
My question is how the fuck did Young Sigma in Young Sigma's body create the events that lead to VLR. Or am I wrong in that? They need to start somewhere right?

Pretty much, read their epilogue files. And they did have specific reasons to be there, more or less. Sean was Delta's workforce, Mira was the piranha and was connected to the fucking snail, and Eric was just along for the ride, though I bet Delta wanted someone mentally unstable.

Phi being Sigma's daughter was everyone's theory. It's not hinted directly in VLR, but Sigma mentions a lot of times that he feels a certain attraction and a very strong need to protect Phi. It was kind of obvious, really.

"Did you forget? Why don't you just ask the morphogenetic field?"
"No, you idiot. I didn't put it on here."
"Then it was Diana."
This was the desk Diana used. She was surprisingly swift at typing and assisted the team in clerical matters. The three of them made for a bulk of the experienced SHIFTer team and any plan regarding the critical mission coming from Sigma or Akane would pass through her ears and make it on to her screen. But right now, the only thing on it was just a Windows 12 login page. One that required a password.
"So?" Phi craned her neck over to Sigma. "What is it?"
"How am I supposed to know?"
"She didn't tell you? Hmm." Her hand to her rested on her chin for a while.
"What is it?"
"Just wondering why, is all. Think about it. She doesn't take this computer anywhere. It's just in here with us. Why would she not trust us with her computer? Perhaps there's something on it we aren't supposed to see?"
"Then I wouldn't want to see it. And a password on a PC is just basic security, you know. It's normal."
"Yeah, but wouldn't it be something she'd tell us beforehand otherwise." Phi's hand was glued to her chin even as she shrugged. "Just in case, you know? Maybe it's something we could guess."
Sigma didn't pay it any mind. "Diana will return soon to unlock the computer. You'll get on with your business. A few minutes wait shouldn't be that big of a problem."

If the drug was soporil, it could have potentially. K has amnesia from getting bombed with Soporil at the start of VLR, but he does actually recover his memories by the end.
I'm guessing the intent was to be a combination of the drug and Zero telling Tenmyouji to "be quiet" at the start of VLR.
