Nah, his old man knew that Claude was under massive pressure.
The only reason he was accepted into the Earth/Pan-Galactic Federation military was because his old man was a war hero. Actually, it's likely his old man steamrolled the recruiters into accepting him.
Once he's in and everyone knows who he is, they expect him to be JUST like his old man is believed to be (a Man Among Gods...not a normal dude who got into a huge amount of shit and literally lucked his way out of it).
Oh, and he's also the descendant of the "Greatest Earth Hero Ever": Stephen D. Kenny, the First Human to break the Light Barrier.
When people learn he's not a clone of what they believe his father to be, he's given nothing but shit by everyone. This is made worse when he's assigned to serve with his old man, a position that most ensigns would gleefully murder for (Nepotism at it's worst).
Claude was a dork, but hardly a disappointment. Ronyx knew what pressure his son was under, and how much Claude resented both him and his situation.
