I can't handle VII though, so I'm not sure if you would like it, albeit it is a good entry point to the series, but since each game varies radically it doesn't matter with some exceptions:
II is a broken mess that is very difficult to like, even for hardcore FF fans
VIII is also pretty broken, but for different reasons. Its gameplay is so non intuitive that is guaranteed to cause rage on first time players
XI and XIV are MMORPGs, so well, there's that
V is great, but frustratingly difficult
The NES version of 1 is slow and has aged terribly, the remakes are better
NES and DS versions of 3 are different enough that both are worth playing separately
XII is very different from the rest, a great game, but doesn't give a true feeling of what the series are as a whole. Same for XIII

An interesting world can be interesting regardless of its texture quality. The towns in Skyrim had good placement, the cities had an inviting, atmospheric layout, and exploration was enjoyable, particularly when discussing Blackreach.

It's a mountainous setting in a northern geographical location. Snow and forests is the name of the game. I'm willing to be forgiving of this since that aspect of the setting is a pretty big part of it, and personally part of what contributes to the charm of the game.

Not true. Some caves have streams, waterfalls, beautiful meadows that defy logic; others have living quarters, mines, etc. Many caves are similar, but I doubt any two are the same.
