I'm no Tales fan. I've only played Vesperia which I found wholly underwhelming, and pretty mediocre.
Zestiria is more of the same, but I sort of like it better than Vesperia. Which is weird. Might be because I went in thinking it was going to suck.
I've already passed the part whereAlisha leaves; did that play a huge part in the hatred the game receives? Or the fact that you can only use two human characters and the rest are seraphs?

Alisha. They pull a Flynn with her, except that Flynn in the X360 Vesperia only had 5 Artes programmed in, and had no Skills to learn.
Alisha on the other hand is a complete character. I'm still pissed they took gameplay variation away from the players just because Rose's VA was Baba's waifu.
Hell, even if it made sense within the story for her never to return, who the fuck even play these games for the plot. It's all about the gameplay.

It doesn't "lock her away" but rather the game is unfinished in many regards. What becomes fairly obvious once you've played through the game is that they wanted to do a two route system with the main girls, potentially in one side you'd team up with Rose and see more of her story and the other would be Alisha and the more political side of the world.
What happens is that they had to rush the game out and chose to go with Rose instead of Alisha, what this means is that just about everything relating to Alisha is either not in the game or very short and hurried. The other characters like Maltran suffer deeply for this, sheturns out to be a bad guy and her entire story arc is nonexistent to the point where she randomly turns later in the game, does something bad, then you kill her and it's all over. There is very little buildup or explanation, shit just happens and that's it.

I'm in the middle of my first zestiria playthrough, does armatization become required for every boss later on? Does it get more varied? Because for now armatization seems to give you a choice between auto attacks and spells, and I never liked playing spellscasters. Human gameplay is way more fun but it doesn't seem very powerful outside of trashmobs.

People on 4chan and also game websites told me that zestiria game was bad but I didn't listen to them and judge for myself since I am an adult with money and my own mind so I gave the game a chance and it's pretty good the only thing I didn't like was the game was stopped you from teleporting to certain places certain times during the story so you had to walk everywhere and also the entire water dungeon wad shit

Every Tales Of game after Vesperia had some change in it that I didn't like. TOX's horrible link system and rushed story, TOX2 keeping the link system plus the forced characters in your party for the story missions.

And yet Xilia still was more fun overall. I played both games for around 90h and would say that I know most shit about both games. The battlesystem alone made Zestiria a joke. They took the Graces combat which was perfectly fine and fun and somehow managed to make it shit. Unlike Graces it literally feels like button mashing all the time. Also the heavy grinding at endgame completly kills this game. You barely feel any progress through leveling and if you want to feel your characters getting stronger you have to grind for fucking hours until you finally have a weapon with decent skills on it. While the idea of a focus on weapons and equipment instead of raw stats through leveling was good it was terrible implemented.

60fps patch alleviates the clipshow mob movement. Imo the real issue with the game is the skill system which gimps combat much more then the camera does (I had like no exceeds by the end of zestiria while Graces gives them to you like candy), and flat characters that don't meaningfully develop. The character models are better than ever, the music is perhaps the greatest that tales has ever gotten, every sidequest in the game got voice acting this time around, and the dungeons could be done in the order of your choice. It had some honest good ideas, and if berseria just fixed the writing, skills, and camera it could be seriously fantastic.

At least for now, TP is a fucking problem. Doing anything fancy requires all of your TP. And doing normal attacks restore 1 TP at a time. If you want to do 2 artes after your attacks, you need to do ~30 normal attacks first to gain enough TP. Sounds fun? It isn't.

The only character in Vesperia that can really brag so much depth is Judith. Her jump cancels and airgame are insane and provide a sort of mechanic that bounces back on just about everything she can do. But the rest of the characters, if you've seen one advanced combo with them, you've seen them all. The problem with their ATs is that they don't exist to help their entire moveset as much as they do to exist more closely as their own separate gimmicks.
Graces I won't quite make a different case for but saying its combat depth does nothing to match Vesperia's list of ATs is just lying.

The pacing is kinda wack I'll be honest. It's really slow at first and then when you get all the party members (Ch.9 or 10) things get better, then Ch.12 hits and things go absolutely fucking bonkers and the wild ride doesn't stop until the end.
The debt actually never ends, it lasts until the end. If you actually pay back all of the debt you get bonus costumes and a bonus ending

What was so bad about Zestiria? I got to play a few hours at my friend's house and it seemed solid enough. The only issue I had was the camera was a pain during combat sometimes, but it wasn't often enough to really bother me. Does it get worse later on, of dies the story never go anywhere, or what? It was the PS4 version if that matters.

Around the last 3 or 4 chapters of the game you no linger have to keep paying the debt but like you said you do get rewarded for it. You get skill books, costumes, and I believe Ludgers fell arms through paying certain increments of debt. Once you unlock the bonus dungeon you start earning money extremly fast through combinations of Sephiras and food items earning hundereds of thousands of gald per battle

I'm playing Zestiria and all of a sudden Sorey and Rose's SC are always at 0 at the end of a battle, why is this?
No matter what SC I end with, it automatically gets slammed to 0. Is there some hidden fatigue system in this game or something?
Also does this game pick up at one point? I found a Pope hiding in some remote village and I'm like 22 hours in and I can't play for more than an hour without getting bored.
