Prince of Persia's deaths were scary to me. Like the lava pits in POP2. Falling into those made a death scream sound that unnerved me (not in the video).

Prince of Persia 1 was more disturbing since the animations were rotoscoped. Even more when you consider they were based on his little brother doing gymnastics. He was animating an effigy of his brother dying in gruesome ways.

The falling death animations in the original Tomb Raider freaked me out as a kid. The sound of her hitting the floor and just crumpling into a pile... I think she would scream in the sequels while she fell.

Nah, it's basically the "reload state" animation ; when you die to a section (the game is literally a succession of QTEs), you see one, and get put back to where you failed.
