Unique, but really clean. Each unite morph is different from each other and drawing them on the right stick feels more like fighting game inputs. Combat feels free and flows nice.
Major complaint is that it does the normal Platinum thing and breaks up combat with some minigame every so often.

I played ZOE1 to completion, but I got kind of sick of ZOE2. ZOE1's missions were repetitive, but not as bad as ZOE2. What was the actual point of thge minefield mission? She tells you where to go to avoid the mines, right, but you can just fucking fly up and completely avoid them. The one where you're looking for the crate with the survivors, and it constantly moves around and it's unclear where you're going or what you're doing. Also, that one where you have to carry her mech up a collapsing dynamo tower while fighting enemies was infuriating. I think that's where I dropped the game, if I remember correctly.

Try doing the boss fight just before that on a subsequent playthrough with Naked Jehuty. Time your parry wrong and you have to start the whole thing over again because you kill her in a single hit.

I stopped playing ZoE1 right in the middle of itbecause I didn't know where to go/what to do,but with ZoE2, I was overall pretty satisfied, but I wasn't completely in love with it either. Felt like it was a good, but not amazing game. But overall it saddened me that we'll never get a ZoE3, because I could at least see exactly why people wanted one after playing it. Like, there could be so much done with that game, so many ways to improve it and build upon that gameplay.
What I really hated about that game though was that the final boss takes away most of your abilities. Getting Zero Shift was goddamned amazing though.
