The "offline" mode does not work unless you connect first. Every single time I try to start in offline mode, I'm told I need to go online to authenticate my game.

I always get a Naughty Dog or Ready at Dawn "Well, I guess we're making a game, so we need some gameplay" vibe from them. Witcher games look great, are well-animated and just have a wonderful, high-quality presentation overall, but fuck me if they're aren't some of the most boring "RPGs" I've ever played.
