For me 999 was still the best, cause using the other screen for narration was ingenious to me. Zero Time Dilemma got me really hard, but then I immediately said wait that's bullshit,if only because the game is presented in cinematic form and we get a lot of broad sweeping shots from multiple perspectives, so saying that Q was always just out of frame, especially in something like Q ending 1 where you see Sean and Mira walking side by side out the door, broke my suspension of disbelief for the moment. If the game was in VN form like the first 2, it would definitely be the best twist, but otherwise kinda nonsense. Was still hype though.

Junpei realizes how crazy he is about akane at the end of 999, so to realize that and then have her disappear voluntarily would probably hurt like an absolute bitch. On top of that, whatever detective agency he joined must have been up to some seriously shady shit from what junpei briefly described. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he'd killed some people himself in the course of that year. At any rate, it put a serious damper on his happy go lucky attitude. Queue finally finding Akane and Junpei is stuck between his feelings of being extremely bitter about the pain he's been through the past year and his old self and feelings coming through again cause he's finally around akane again.

So we're looking at absolutely maximum 2014 death for Akane's father meaning unless Mira is older than everyone else at Dcom (Bar Delta) she would have been 8 at the fucking oldest when supposedly killing Eric's mom. Doesn't add up for Mira to be the killer.

I really VLR's twist ofSigma's being an old man and the game hiding his face throughout the entirety of story.. Thought it was pulled off fantastically and foreshadowed really well("Hurry up and die you senile old fuck.")
999's twist is the most clever out of all of them in terms of how it made use of the DS hardware, but it didn't have all that much of an impact on the game overall. It was never really foreshadowed and most of the dialogon the lower screen sounded like it came from a generic narrator, it didn't sound like it was coming from the perspective of an 9 year old Akane, or anyone in particular.It was great in the moment and contributed to the plot, but it doesn't drastically change the game on repeat playthroughs like VLR and ZTD twists do.
ZTD's twist is the one with the most fuckery in it. There's definitely foreshadowing for it, but it's significantly more subtle than the (already) subtle foreshadowing in VLR. If you paid enough attention and thought hard about it, you could probably figure outSigma being old in VLR. The same can't be said with ZTD.

They really bumblefucked the whole morphogenic field thing up after 999. I got that it allowed information to travel metaphysically through timespace, and that you could influence habits, instincts and epiphanies.
But nowhere in that is there a mechanism for SHIFTing, or any reason to fuck with parallel universes. They really needed to develop a new system for it in VLR to explain how it worked. Instead they just piled everything into "hurr morphogenic field" even though it didn't work that way.

I'll agree that VLR's was pretty well pulled off, but with the foreshadowing for ZTD was ridiculously more subtle in comparison. I think I counted like 5-6 throwaway lines at best that contributed to it.
[Spoiler] Eric says something about an old guy in a wheelchair in Q team's press the acid shower button end.
Sigma hears about Q team dying from execution or acid shower and lements how Q couldn't hear or see.
CQD end 1 makes a lot more sense with Mira going "Who's this kid" while everyone else still recognizes each other.
Those are the ones I remember off the top of my head without actually combing for the rest. [/spoiler]
