It was pretty intense from the constant fear of ambushes from respawned enemies, though the fear factor loses a lot of power when you finally memorize all the bell maiden locations.

First playthrough was offline so I had no messages showing me. I ended up figuring it out because I noticed the sprinkling dust that was falling was breaking apart in air and some of it continued falling on the side. Thought to myself "No fucking way" took a gamble and walked off and it worked.
Cosidering a great majority of people play online and the bridges usually are fucking filled with messages I dont see any issue.

Forest is fucking great though, huge, vast level design and a really atmospheric area in general that leads to a good boss fight. Mensis is good too, it's a crazy, scary, difficult area and a great last area with a good nightmarish atmosphere.
I like Yahar'Ghul atmospherically because it's when the cosmic horror really sets in, and you see the aftermath of the ritual and it's just fucking crazy and terrifying. The worst area is easily Nightmare Frontier.

The issue isn't that it's too hard or that people don't get it, it was just a fucking awful idea. The area is just a straight line with a retarded gimmick. If they just put bridges or any random texture over the invisible pathways, it would be by far the most forgettable, boring area in the game.
