It's a sign that the developer doesn't prioritize mass appeal over their passions. The two aren't mutually exclusive, but the whole concept of the bald space marine was born from design by committee to make something as broadly appealing (i.e. the most universal power fantasy for the target audience) as possible, so seeing something directly opposing it is indicative that the developer isn't making a game solely for the cash.
