Which is better?

lower res + higher graphics.
most games literally start looking like water painted wax on lower graphical settings. If I can get 60fps while using high AA, textures and shadows at 720p, it's totally worth it.
Lower resolution but higher graphics quality all day every day. High res is a meme
>>343874910
>Not lower resolution with lower graphics quality
Who /toaster/ here?
>>343874910
>using MSAA and Post-proc. AA at the same time

but playing non-native res feels weird though
>>343874910
Native resolution is the only acceptable choice.
>>343874910
Res.
Who cares how much detail it has if its jaggy as shit.
It makes games look worse imho.
>>343876485
>playing non-native res feels weird
If you want weird, play on a high latency monitor
The native resolution of your monitor.
However, if I couldn't run the games I want to play at respectable settings, I wouldn't get 1480p/2160p/whatever monitors so, by choosing a lower-res monitor, you can hopefully have both the native resolution and high settings.
Can't stand non native resolutions on flatscreens. I wish they'd behave like CRTs did.

>It's one of those shit ports that tie graphical quality to resolution

This. I've played at 720p or lower for longer than I've played at 1080p+ in my life. I can handle it fine and very damn well prefer it if it ensures 60 or 75+ FPS. Best thing is when games have a resolution scale slider - UI elements stay at native res and everything else can be changed, wish more games did it.

>Render resolution option
The best
>>343874910
Native resolution on low. If you play on 720p with a 1080p monitor it will be blurred and have jaggies out the ass. 900p seems fine to me though.

Gonna be forever until we see if it's actually good and widely adopted

whatever give me 60 fps but most of the time it's high res a low graphic
You can achieve (almost) photorealistic graphics in 1080p.
I dont get why they are pushing 4k so much.
>Decide to try Battlefield 4 because it was on sale recently
>1920x1080 Ultra
>Horrible low quality textures everywhere paired with texture flickering which apparently happens since day 1 on all GPU vendors and there is no fix.
>Low quality Anti Aliasing implementation, even 4xMSAA+MFAA looks like trash and lets not talk about Post AA which blurs everything.
>For some freaking reason In-game resolution scale is lower quality than using Nvidia DSR with 15% smoothness at the same resolution.
Why do people say this game looks good? Some times it looks worse than Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/3.
The only thing is has going for it are the bigger maps which would be a lot more work than Call of Duty maps so I can understand the quality disparity in textures but god damn I have to play it at 4K to make it look decent.
Apparently there are people who play with AA at 1920x1080, I can wrap my mind how someone can stand playing like this.
Am I missing something? is there something people use to force better AA or what.

VR, nothing else
If you ever go below fucking native res before turning down all settings, then you're messed up in the fucking head, and should honestly end your own life for being the primordial pile of sludge that you are.
On that note, if you're ever actually at the point where you need to lower all settings AND the resolution to get a playable framerate in ANY game, then you need to throw your computer in the trash.
>>343878121
Without AA* at 1920x1080.
>>343874910
I always prioritise resolution. Anything below the native res will take a big hit in quality. I've never had to turn down res so meh.
>>343878578
Performance difference between 720p and 1080p is pretty fucken large, though
>>343878862
At that point just buy a fucking console.
>>343878952
I can't shitpost from a console or play vidya
>>343875435
ayyy
That's the great thing about PC,you have the choice. Consolecucks are still stuck with sub 1080P until the new consoles come out.

>trying to play BF4 with 3 years old laptop
>all low, even internal resolution (this shit's so dope) is reduced to 60%
>manages to get 30ish fps
>can't see the enemies because they blend in with all those blurry textures
