How the hell do you counter this argument?
>>
You can't.
>>
>>343853696
yeah hes right... blood come out of the asshole as well
>>
it's a lot easier to assume everything is shit until proven otherwise
>>
With experience comes wisdom. We don't have to prove every single thing to an unreasonable degree. Todd Howard may be telling the 100% truth with his next game but the smart thing would be to distrust him based on the evidence we have.

It can be reasonably assumed, from the precedence of the entirety of the human species shitting, that taking a position heavily connected to the action of shitting will result in shit.

True, something else could happen. The guy could squeeze gold bricks for all we know, but that's not exactly a common occurrence, and no reasonable person would think "This guy squatting over my plate is going to drop gold bricks onto it."

If anything, the guy specifically stating "You don't know it's shit!" would just raise even more red flags that he's about to shit, and is just being obnoxious about it.
>>
You don't. If he shits, it's not a big deal. If he squeezes out a few gold bars smuggled from Peru, you're now a lot richer. Why would you take the chance to pass up a fortune?

There is literally nothing wrong with a good food analogy.
>>
Why would you counter it? What does it even mean to counter an argument? If you mean, what concerns might one raise to oneself about that argument, then of course the answer is, if you try and actually make no assumptions you'll never be able to get anything done. Everything will have to be a new experience to which you carry no foreknowledge at all, and you'll be stuck choosing basically randomly between all available options.
If you mean, how sould you respond to a shitposter on /v/, the answer is, don't. Though I can't help but feel like I just violated my own statement.
>>
>>343853696
If you've played video games long enough (i.e. didn't start playing them on the Xbox 360) you can deduce patterns and warning signs. It's not hard.
>>
>>343853696
Firstly you should re-evaluate whatever claim you're making to be sure that you're not jumping to conclusions. If you're not, then present the evidence that has lead you to said conclusion. In the image in the OP, anybody who somehow thinks that a naked man, straining as he squats over a dinner plate, isn't about to shit is ignoring a whole heap of evidence that shit is on the horizon.
>>
>>343854434
This. Just step away from the plate (don't get caught up in hype) and check on it once you've heard him finish. If it's gold, you're a rich man and your trust in the plate squatter is raised. If it's a turd, you didn't have someone shit on a plate right in front of you and can still kick the crazy bastard out of your house. In both cases, you can be grabbing your gun while you wait.

>Educated guessing based on developer track records.

If a dev like Ninja Theory is coming out with a new game you can assume its shit and most likely be right. Its like saying "How do you know the animation from a Toei studio anime is going to be shit?" Its shit almost every other time so why wouldn't i expect it to be this time?
>>
>>343855425
Not him but being 14 would moreso mean not having discerning tastes enough to differentiate shit from good game. On the contrary most young people play whatever is in front of them without question. This is why you underage 90's born children are shit on so much.
>>
>>343853696
Rule number one of arguing.

Ignore them. Don't fight fire with fire, sometimes people just gotta learn shit for themselves and there's nothing you can do to stop them.
>>
>>343855425
Not him but are you? The only people I see gobbling up every triple A game on a regular basis are fucking children and normalfags. At the bare minimum most of the games that are released now lack creativity and do nothing new and should be called what they are, "mediocrity." Literally everybody just plays it safe.
>>
>>343853696
Only shit comes out of a person's butt (hopefully), but lots of things besides shit can come out of a new video game release or anything else.

But this picture is wrong because the whole argument revolves around the idea that the guy in the shitting position is an anagram for a game company. Putting the guy in the shitting position is complete opinion. It could be a man dressed in a butler suit presenting a fancy covered dish, but the customer would be complaining it's going to be shit before it's even revealed

Assuming the person/company releasing the product is shit is opinion

Games are either good or shit, and that doesnt even take into consideration guilty pleasures and people's subjective opinions.

Shit on the other hand will always be 100% of the time shit, so it isnt really correct to compare the two.

Not really, unless there's a patent violation.

It'd even be hard to argue trademark infringement if he's not selling the end result.

Copyright doesn't apply to bikes and a retail shop owner wouldn't have any intellectual property rights on the stuff he's selling anyway.

It depends how the argument is used. Sometimes consumers can inappropriately feel entitled and expect developers to make unnecessary sacrifices to please the consumer. That doesn't mean consumers have to have no standards, however. You're not entitled to a great game, but companies aren't entitled to have consumers praise them and buy their games if the game isn't up to par.

I think it's backfired for them tho with guys like AVGN. Personally I don't why people think it'll be anywhere close to good. Ghostbusters was great not because they busted ghosts with le cool science, it was because Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Dan Akroyd had great chemistry and natural humor.

Yes, that's correct, for copyright infringement. Which doesn't apply to a bicycle. Trademark infringement is significantly different.

>>343861258
I really don't get why graphical downgrades still shock people here on /v/. Devs always start high, and then lower settings until the system can handle it smoothly.
>>
>>343862581
your copy of the bike would still have all the logos and trademarks/store price tags. thus it would be classified as copyright infringement.
>>
>>343862374
>>343862380
Yeah, it's pretty unfortunate. But at the same time, I'm holding out hope that it'll at least break even. God forbid it turns a profit and encourages Sony to kill another franchise.
>>
>>343862778
They showed the initial footage as running at 60 fps though. And the final game runs at 30 fps.
>>
>>343862905
Copyright infringement applies to works, not trademarks (including logos, etc), and trademark infringement only applies to competing goods and services, if it would cause confusion among consumers about whose product was whose. A single bike meant only for yourself that isn't distributed could not possibly cause confusion.

Can't think of anything to comment so I'm just going to post a pancake recipe

Makes 10 to 12 thick 4-inch pancakes

Ingredients

1 ½ cups milk (plus more as needed)
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups self-rising flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup superfine granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Preparation

In a bowl or 2-cup measure, whisk together milk, egg and vanilla. Into another bowl, sift flour and baking soda. Stir in sugar. Make a well in the center. Add milk mixture. Whisk until just combined. Batter will be thick (thin with a little milk, if desired; batter will get even thicker as it sits).

Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Brush pan with melted butter. Using about ¼ cup batter per pancake, cook pancakes 3 to 4 minutes or until bubbles appear on surface. Turn and cook 3 minutes or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate. Cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with remaining mixture, brushing pan with butter between batches. Serve.

We all know exactly what the shit will taste and smell like no matter what we have heard about it. Shit is something very simple that anyone can understand (it's fucking shit)
A video game is not a predefined thing we can instantly understand without interacting with first. We can make educated guesses based on trailers and dev info but the game is an interactive medium and as such requires us to see for ourselves.

Here's another MSpaint comic, y'know, for argument reasons I guess.
>>
>>343853696
It's not an argument, it's a statement.
Instead of making a point based on what's happening it's saying "the situation is THIS transparent and you're just stupid because you can't see the blindingly obvious".
>>
>>343866593

Even if a replication is 100% accurate, such as cloning, it's still fraudulent as cloning would also copy the unique serial number attributed the bill, making it no longer unique. Therefore, still counterfeit.

You'd have to clone change/coinage or find a country without serial numbered currency.

Nah, it's not. The music is mediocre. Guns are mostly underwhelming. All the colours look poopy and muddy. And the level design consists of lazy "force the player into this area and you have to kill X enemies before you can progress".

Even the people who have bought it unanimously agree that the multiplayer is quite terrible, and that the map-maker is terrible too (it only has UAC assets, and you can't input custom assets into it).
