It tied up most of the loose ends at least. Uchikoshi should just make a visual novel if he wants to tie everything up neatly thought. I don't think I'd want to trudge through more puzzles just to tie up the plot. If he wanted to make a new series with puzzles and plans, I'd be all for it though.

I feel Uchikoshi must have felt like Kojima making MGS4, he just wanted to make something that would make the fans happywithout realising that nothing makes a fan happier than good writing, That's why Akane and Junpei marry at the end and the cringeworthy ring scene, and why D Team end up reuniting as a family. The characters of 999 are mentioned because they had no place in this story but it's nice to acknowledge their existence. Even Mira, Eric and Sean have a nice ending for themselves (that makes no fucking sense but whatever).
The way the teams are formed could be seen as fanservice as well. Zero knew about how these characters know each other and yet decided to group them in the 999 group, the VLR group and the newcomers group. Imagine if these teams were mixed and Junpei had to decide about pressing a button that would kill the team Akane is, for example.
I like to think that Delta's motives were actually complex, but for budget reasons they had to cut that entire part. It's sad that the last hour is such a underwhelming clusterfuck, because it doesn't give any of the closure this game really needed.

That shit made NO sense at all until a few hours later when I went through the rest of the game.

But that was the point, and it had attention drawn to it constantly while not revealing what was actually going on until the reveal, so it was possible to figure it out yourself and if you didn't then when the reveal happened it would be shocking.
ZTD has a few sparse hints throughout the 16 hours until the reveal and then goes "lol there was an old man there the entire time and also everyone knew Sean's name but never said it until now".
The difference here is that one actually foreshadowed it and didn't hide information from the player. ZTD's twist was on par with Heavy Rain.

ZTD did deliberately hide Delta from the player with the camera angles and magical teleportation bullshit, but there were plenty of references to him being there. Mira even thinks it's a joke when Q is announced as the team leader. They constantly refer to the "old man" while panning the camera over Gab. They both hide information from the reader, and ZTD does have some foreshadowing (the shadows, the comment about 'poor Q' never seeing his death coming, other particular word choices in the scenes with Q Team), and Q gets ignored all the time for a much better reason than the sister does.

As for the rest, you're ignoring my point. Yes, there are moments where ZTD foreshadowed the twist, but they were only ever sparse vague hints, which is why so many people were confused by it rather than surprised. In SnK the protagonist narrates everything to his sister, which is bizarre when you start the game but quickly becomes natural and you completely ignore it as the game goes on. Every time he meets a new character they notice his "affliction" and the atmosphere is uncomfortable. SnK has the twist ceaselessly dangled in front of your face without you even realising it, while ZTD just drops a few bread crumbs and calls it a day.

If you want the whole thing spoilt for you:The setting of Sharin no Kuni is in the future of Japan where a new justice system exists where people are given specific personalised punishments for crimes they have committed and enforcers are tasked with ensuring that their punishments are carried out and the people are reformed. The worst punishment one can receive is to be marked as someone who can't be communicated with, and they're given a tattoo to show this and cannot talk to or draw the attention of anybody, and anybody who acknowledges their existence will be made a criminal as well.
The MC's sister is falsely convicted and is given that punishment, and the MC becomes an enforcer to try and save her. Throughout the game the MC is constantly talking to his sister as though she wasn't there, for example, saying "I'm just a weird guy who loves my sister!" which allows him to indirectly communicate to her without breaking the rules. Throughout the game the MC is shown smoking herbs, and it's implied that he's addicted to drugs, and occasionally gets the shakes, which is what it's implied that his "affliction" is when people notice it and become uncomfortable. In actuality his sister is following him around for the entire game, never saying a word, and it's revealed towards the end when she suddenly speaks when the MC decides to rebel against the system.

The ways that the games hid information is not the same. This is why I made the Heavy Rain comparison. In ZTD you never once see anyone refer to Sean by his name, and yet the moment after the twist you get a file saying "nobody has ever called Sean by anything else", which blatantly contradicts what we are shown. That's how it hides information to force the twist, and when everyone suddenly starts using Sean's name like it's going out of fashion, that shows the twist is incredibly forced.

Well yeah, of course it was, but Sigma and Diana are two people who are literally trying to grasp onto whatever little scraps of happiness and hope they can latch onto and it makes perfect sense. I mean even how they were acting was borderline insane, they were on a very hard death clock with limited resources and death was practically inevitable, but they were giving food to the dog and Sigma made sure that Diana was eating enough for the baby and up until the very end they were incredibly happy with their little family unit.
It was dumb and irrational but it was also like the sweetest fucking moment and the only time in the game where anyone actually feels like they are satisfied. Everything went to shit and we're going to die here, but I got to spend my last days with you so it was all worth it. It's fucking beautiful.

I think I was pretty lucky to watch those events in the best order. Seeing a happy Sean live a fake fulfilling life while pondering about simulated realities and Matrix-like worlds and then seeing the "real" Sean ask "What happened, why am I still here?" was pretty damn sad. The head reveal was just the icing on the cake.
