What I don't get is why people didn't see this shit coming years ago.
I used to trade hats in TF2, and I can specifically remember going on trade servers and seeing people "spycrab" for hats. Most of the time, the server owners were involved, either because they were gambling or because they were overseeing it as a "judge". There was really no proof that these people weren't using mods to fix how often the spycrab taunt came up, and most of them would take either a fee to "judge" the gambling or would gamble their items against other people's.
I think the best instance of this that I remember was a server admin saying "Okay come on I'm spycrabbing my $2000 hat, minimum buy-in is 1 bud ($30 or so at the time)." Obviously, no one's going to risk a $2000 hat against a $30 hat unless they know they're going to win, and lo and behold the server admin was raking in money because he'd win every time.
CS:GO gambling is just spycrabbing on a much larger scale.
