Yeah, get a 480, the PCIe error is getting fixed tomorrow
>>
If you want to max shit out on 1080 resolution then get an non-reference 480, Sapphire is probably the best

If you want to go 2k or 4k then just wait for nVidia to sort their shit out

Is 2k or 4k worth it?

>literally 2 shitty cards to get close to performance of one
>"but m-muh price!"

lol get a job poorfag

The big advantage of 2k and 4k are that they let you go for much larger monitors than have been available in the past without sacrificing any image quality. A 30" 2k monitor, or a 40" 4k monitor will actually be sharper than a 24" 1080p monitor.

If you have a single monitor 1080p setup right now, go for a 28"-32" 2k (1440p) display.
If you have a multi monitor 1080p setup right now, go for a 38-42" 4k (2160p) display.

But are such big monitors viable for PC gaymin? Seems like too big for something that you sit close too.

A 40" monitor is narrower than a pair of 24" 16x9 displays, and about as tall as a 24" 9x16 vertically orientated monitor. If it helps you imagine it as four 1920 wide, 1080 tall 20" displays in a grid with no bezels. Its a perfectly viable size if you're used to using multiple monitors.

Plus if your computer room has a couch its much more viable as a 10ft display than a 30" monitor or a set of smaller monitors.

get a r9 390, still better than the 480 without the PCI e bullshit
>>
>>343766514
The PCIe bullshit is getting fixed by a driver update and the non-reference cards.

This comparison doesn't really make sense to me. I imagine the use case for about 90% of multiple monitor users is a convenient segregated secondary desktop without faffing about with virtual desktops. In this case, an ultrawide primary monitor won't be any more usable, and cost substantially more when secondary (non-performance oriented) monitors are often reuse or free. Seems like a lot of money just to get rid of the bezel.
It makes more sense for couch/TV/console gaming with a standard aspect ultrahigh resolution, but sitting close to a monitor at a desk? I think I'd rather have a 1080p 144hz and a shit secondary monitor.

Two months from now, maybe.
