Today, Microsoft killed the Xbone, by announcing that Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store. From this point on there is no such thing as an exclusive Xbox One video game - and thus, there is no longer a reason to purchase the Xbox One.
This is quite literally the day that Microsoft pulled out of the home console race, which leaves only PlayStation and whatever system Nintendo put out in the next 12 months (or later.)

As a company Microsoft will be able to reach way more people than Sony ever will, and with more people realizing that PC is the best option for gaming and migrating there Microsoft has come out of the gates running. Unless Sony can offer experiences on the platform with the most people (PC) they'll be left in the dust and failing to keep up with the competition. If Sony doesn't take advantage of the PC market then they're going to regret it.
Their niche appeal being the console to offer weeb games is already weakening with every vita or PS4 Japanese game being ported to steam. Why would you even bother with a Sony console, surely not for one or two shitty games, they can't offer a nice package when there is almost every game ever on PC. I wanted to get away from PC gaming, because it seems that it will still take probably another decade until Windows is not needed for actual games.
But then I remember that it's uncomfortably pricey for me. I could just get a new GPU at this point with my current build and enjoy things like the new deus ex. The difference is that with Vista it was easy to stay back on XP and ignore a lot of that crap because the Xbox at the time kept developers focused on DX9 and upgrades were easy to avoid because you had to specifically opt in by paying for them.
Now the new Xbox requires devs to use DX12 and UWP which means back porting games to older versions of Windows will be difficult, and Microsoft is doing everything they can to force their whole user base on to the difficult to opt-out of Windows 10 upgrade.
