Bordeelands 1 had great gore, heads exploded, limbs flew off with enough force, you could even split people in half with a well aimed shotgun blast. Not to mention the shock DOT kill animation which had the victims head split open and thier brain fell onto the floor.
None of this returned in Borderlands 2, bevause Gearbox had no clue how to make good games, they did it by accident and *fixed* everything in the sequel.

The real problem with BL1 is that its AI was fucking retarded and the majority of the game was spent fighting the same kinds of enemies in palette swapped areas. It got really, REALLY old to the point where segments like the DLC, the Crimson Lance invasion in Old Haven, and the final stretch of the game were the only things that were fun on a replay because at least I wasn't fighting fucking skags or BL1's retard bandits.

I love wraith of heaven. Those sexy finishers and grabs. Characters stylish as well. I remember there was a dude with special feint offering then sudden attack or ronin with a gun with a super cool anime-like grab shot. Shit was so awesome, it would be insane and gorgeous with current hardware.
