Better act quick on those games
>>
I remember seeing people shitting on the Dark Souls 1 PC port, is it good now (or are there mods fixing the issues)?

Only played tiny bits of Demons Souls and Bloodborne and tempted by DS, especially since its cheap.

it's totally fine, people fucking whine too much. I beat it a few months back on PC. Look up DSFix mod if you want the resolution to be "true" 1920x1080, apparently From Soft didn't port it correctly so it's actually 720p standard or some shit. The mod also lets you set the game to 60fps, but I didn't mess with that, it makes jumping physics all whacky, and some ladders can apparently make the game crash.
>>
>>343723864
All of them are good

Repostan then.

>Subnautica
>Block'hood
Comfy as shit, even when I'm shitting myself in deep water, 8/10 really polished for early access games.
>Dead by Daylight
Fun shit, 7/10 because it still needs some serious balancing but I just love asymmetrical multiplayer.
>pic related
Other shit I've bought and haven't played yet. Although, I have played Samorost 2 before and that shit is 9/10, only missed a perfect score because of its short length. Still worth giving Amanita money for though, if only they could make some longer games.
>>
>>343723795
How is it? I had pirated the latest version of the game and it lagged for me. I have a 3470 and 970 so it was weird. Gonna wait till they add multiplayer.

Ended up getting this.
Starting to feel I got a bunch of mediocre games, and wishing I got FO3/FO:NV.

Also Dying Light The Following doesn't come with all DLC, there's 3 DLC that's not included. Too bad I listened to advice from an uninformed anon.

Could still buy them but would be spending extra on top of the $80 CAD I already spent.
>>
Do I need the DLC to play on most ARMA 3 servers?
>>
>>343723662

If you have gamepad its fine, just download a mod that increases the fps to 60. If you have M+K tho, you will NEED to download DSfix and DSMfix. Changing keybindings is awkward as hell cus all the buttons are mapped to the xbox controller. It may take an hour of tinkering but it works fine
>>
>>343723662
It feels a bit clunky but not really bad. I've seen way worse ports that break themselves all the time. *cough* Bethesda *cough*
>>
Grabbed Darkest Dungeon, only thing I wanted all sale.

You what? If you've only just purchased it they sometimes bend the two hour rule for real bugs like that. Try a complete reinstall anyway, I had problems with Dead by Daylight that were only fixed once I just deleted and redownloaded the whole thing.

I get soundtracks if they're less than $3, $5 if I'm feeling generous for a GOOD game. Musicians need to eat too.

You're right about EA though... maybe I shouldn't have fallen for the Subnautica meme. Should I refund? Has anyone refunded during this sale so far? How long will it take for them to do the refund?

>>
>>343724624
>Lords of the Fallen
The problem is that it's buggy as fuck.

>Shadows of Mordor
I think the stupid open world with millions of pointless activities is much worse than lore rape. For the most part they keep it contained in that very specific setting, so it's not that bad unless in terms of representations, only the stupid reasoning behind what's going on.
I just can't stand the unispired gameplay and asscreed/spiderman navigation.

Supposedly.

You can see the base price go up at the beginning of this year. I'm guessing it's because the game started as early access and then they finished it.

I have a weird question I currently own age of empires 2 and want to buy the DLC but it seems kind of net cheaper (or the same actual cost) for me to buy the entire bundle (age 2 + all DLCs) vs just buying all the DLC.

I can't play that shit on android. Try it on PC first so you get what it's really like at least. You'll understand why it's way too hard to play on a phone when you try.

You can easily shift+key on PC, but to do it on a phone you need to go through multiple menus just to output a capital X and then go back to lower case.

Yeah, base Warband is plenty. Napoleonic Wars is fun but it's multiplayer-only if you care about that (and I don't recommend Brytenwalda since the mod version is good enough and free).
>>

I'm just worried Subnautica has nothing to do long term. I can just see myself spending a few hours gathering shit, building a base, clearing the wrecked ship and then...what, exactly?

I figure I'll get the same exploratory basebuilding joy from heavily-modded Minecraft without having to spend any money.

As for Rogue legacy, I pirated it a long time ago when it was newish, but I was shit at it because I'm terrible at bullet hells and this is a bullet hell in some parts, especially that first eye boss. Fun otherwise. Only debating it now because I have a controller and wonder ifthat'll make it easier to play.

I own and have beaten that entire list except for Dead Premonition (I have a thing against Japanese ports).

My personal ranking:
Alan Wake >>>>>> Murdered Soul Suspect = Vanishing of Ethan Carter = Call of Cthulhu.

The main criticism most people have against Alan Wake is the 'repetitive gameplay' (lack of varied weapons). I don't think the gameplay is bad at all, it's serviceable enough to move the game and plot along. It has way better atmosphere, gameplay, story and music than the rest on the list at any rate and is in general a higher quality game.

Murdered Soul Suspect is great if you're into spoopy stories. It has good atmosphere, a compelling story and good setpieces. The weakest part is the gameplay, the length of the game, the occasionally crappy writing (especially those collectable notes from your wife) and the shitty literally fedora-tier character design.

Ethan Carter is so-so. It's very beautiful and atmospheric, but it doesn't know what kind of game it wants to be. It's not horror, mystery or sci-fi. Just think of it has an amalgamation of Weird Tales, but in that regard it doesn't excel either. It's also really short.

CoC:DCotE is actually a full game unlike Ethan Carter or Murdered Soul Suspect, but it's old as fuck and ridden with bugs, so I have a hard time recommending it. Only play it if you're serious about Lovecraft's stories, otherwise it'd be a real slog to get through. I beat it and I don't regret it, but I went in prepared with knowledge of how to avoid the buggy parts of the game and tweaks like changing the FOV and such.

Wake>Power Gap>Soul Suspect>Power Gap>Vanishing>Premonition=Cthulhu

Alan Wake is a must play. Soul Suspect is super underrated in my opinion and is the closest thing to LA Noire I've played. Probably better than Noire cause the ending isn't completely shit. Vanishing is pretty but completely lifeless and boring after about an hour. Premonition is pretty crap. Cthulhu is crap, just read Lovecraft or play something else lovecraftian, like sunless sea.

At any rate, they managed to fuck the port up big time. Without dsfix the game doesnt support a higher monitor resolution than 1080x1920, which makes the use of dsfix mandatory for people with newer monitors. The graphics look like shit, the game lacks proper support for kb+m AND is locked to 30fps, which does make a huge difference. You are either a jelly console shitter or a retard on pc that doesnt give a crap about the things i listed above and should prolly move to console. In both cases you are a fag.

If you're still here, all the new campaigns are completely forgettable and only worth playing through if you really got to burn some time. COD4:MW and MAYBE MW2 are the only ones worth playing, just for a cool few missions and setpieces, Pripyat in MW1 and DC in MW2 come to mind. COD5:WAW is ok if you want WW2, as is COD2.

tl;dr get cod4, if you like it play mw2. you can beat both in a day. if you still want more, just grab whatever.

I bought Subnautica and have the same worries about the 'endless survival' aspect.

I hate games with no sense of endgame or plot-driven development, which is one of the reasons why I played 30 minutes of pirated minecraft alpha then never touched the game again.

Especially for games where you have to constantly 'maintain' things like your base integrity or your health etc or else they degrade over time...

Mulling over a refund.

Soundtrack is good, kind of helps the atmosphere. Gameplay is kinda good, but not nearly enough to warrant the following it got. If you want, try to find a non-cancer video of somebody doing a few battles and see if it looks like something you'd like. Personally, I would recommend not getting it non-sale, and you probably wouldn't want it even on sale until it was a bit cheaper because there are just definitely much better games for cheaper right now. Like, Isaac, Super Meat Boy, Braid, And Yet it Moves are all worth buying before that if you are missing any of them, and they are cheaper.

The game is either bash things and dodge attacks with your heart, which is the more fun way to play, or to try and talk to/interact with stuff to make it not want to fight you. You get different endings depending on if you kill everything you fight, if you kill nothing, or if you kill some things. It feels a bit different from other games but not in a way that really makes it that good. It doesn't really deserve the hate it gets though, although the fanbase deserves the hate they get.

>>
>>343729349
imo the only boss fights that sucked were the extra optional boss fights at the end.
>>
>>343726560

Alan Wake is pretty good, but it's not really a "detective" game.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is pretty lame. Investigations consist of picking up clues (which basically means systematically examining every little thing in every area), and picking the right options in dialogue and other let's-piece-the-clues-together moments (which feel like pop quizzes to see if you were awake during the cut scenes). The rest of the game consists of stealth sequences which aren't great. There's combat too, but you only get to use exactly one move (which triggers a quick-time event) on exactly one type of enemy.

Call of Cthulhu is a game which I haven't finished yetm but I think I've seen enough of it to comment. In short, it's dated as fuck, and was a buggy/unfinished mess even when it was new. It had a troubled development cycle. I guess I've enjoyed the parts I've played, though. The shitty shooting mechanics make it pretty challenging.

I haven't played the others yet.

you'll beat it in a day maximum. rest of your list is dead games or old games, with GTA SA maybe the only exception. Unless you desperately need gameplay (in which case get GTA or a fucking RPG or something) go with firewatch.

In short, just about everything. Maybe the biggest fault lies with the undeveloped characters who remain boring and instantly forgettable. Maybe I missed something but it was difficult to parse any kind of motivation between the two main villains also. In the times I understood what was going on, the story did not make any sense, which is a shame because there are grains of a good idea with the manipulation of time, time running in infinite loops that can be broken and other bizarre ideas.

The gameplay was alright but there is little of it and it's basically your standard third-person shooter. The time powers are a lot of fun though, the only area where the game succeeded I think.

I was reading some stuff about QB and Remedy initially planned for another instalment in the Alan Wake universe but Microsoft wanted something original to launch on the Xbox One so I feel they weren't fully invested in the IP as they should've been.

i enjoyed FTL, but the problem is it's really guided by RNG. the thing is you always need to risk something (either checking distress beacon, trading some goods, or stuff). If you don't risk, you will fail in the long run. The cause and effect seem to be completely random. You might check a distress beacon and get lucky and find a kickass new weapon and some crew or you might get ambushed and crippled enough that you can never recover.

There is more to it than that of course, and triumphing over a shit hand feels great and terrifying, but at the same time it gets to the point where most of the time you fail because of bad luck instead of bad decisions.

Also there is a demo for ETS2 that is pretty large and a small download if you want to see if you enjoy it or not. Highly recommend it for some quick comfy.

Why? The prices never fluctuated. There was never a point to care about daily changes or events. Steam already knows the great sales of old are long and dead. Sadly, the featured items were focused on $10 to $15 titles instead of the $5 to $7.50 and of course only a few $1 titles.

I also beat the game with a controller, but a lot of people on pc prefer using kbm and the devs obviously failed to realize this. Also i havent told him not to get the game, i only ever replied you about dsfix being mandatory. I actually like ds a lot and with dsfix its a very enjoyable experience. The fact that you played the game on 30fps when dsfix is avaibable to you tells me two things: 1)you are too retarded to install the mod and set it up properly, so you convinced yourself that 30fps is "good" and that the awful performance of the game in some areas is fine.
OR
2) as i said previously, you are a retard on pc that doesnt give a crap about the things i listed above and should prolly move to console.
Again, in either case you always will be a fag with very poor reading comprehension.

I played Fallout 1 almost to the end now, I would say it is pretty good but you do have to like the genre or you'll hate it. It's nice that they don't hold your hand through dialogue like 3/NV but some things are obnoxious like having to select the right number of caps when the max you can select at once is 999. Haven't played 2, but i heard it is better than 1 and mostly makes it more convenient. I'd say fallout 1 can leave you a bit lost on who to talk to for certain things because they are in an awkward spot behind a wall or because they are just somewhere obscure. Also if you play it, agility is super important, even compared to other fallout games. If you played NV you might enjoy seeing the things that are pretty small in 1 and 2 that are huge parts of NV (mostly factions/groups).
>>343731318
I wouldn't say better than the 3D ones but it's whatever works for you. I think 1 takes a bit getting used to compared to 3.

>>343732436
I've heard 2 is better than 1, can't confirm myself quite yet, but my friend said 2 has stuff that takes out some of the inconveniences 1 had. Travelling around is arguably less annoying than in 3/NV. You click a destination (if you know where to go) or a random spot to find something (the only time you might need to do this is to find the super mutants). You are then a dot that moves across the map unless an incident happens, which can be meeting a group of merchants, some rats, or even something like super mutants. For that reason, you will want to save a bit because sometimes you might find an enemy that rapes you or you get caught stealing. Also, pro tip, once you get to the hub you can buy books from the librarian and then pickpocket whatever you bought them with and repeat for skills up to 100% for a few skills. It might take a while, but with that and mild investment on level up you can do it just fine.

You can use skill books just like in other fallout games, but in this one you can buy them (really in this one it is trading, caps are cash but not exactly like in 3/NV). The person you buy them from can be stolen from, so buy stuff, and steal what you used to buy it back.

It plays better than 3 on widows 10, kinda better than NV. Honestly, any fallout game likes to break so just don't fuck around with stuff not in game while playing.

It's pretty damn solid, I love how they essentially just made Skyrim multiplayer edition, because as shallow for an RPG as Skyrim's mechanics are, they feel great in an MMO. Action-y combat (no tab targeting), an actual stealth system (even if it's not the best), plenty of places to explore and loot. Also, crafting all your own gear is GOAT, rather than relying on quest rewards or drops.

pcgamingwiki, get some fixes. I don't remember fallout 1 being unstable in my last playthrough
If you've played them before, I'd get the one with AOE2&3, otherwise the $20 with rise of nations and mythology is insane value, all those games are amazing
>>
Anyone picked up any RTS games this sale that are good? Haven't played a good one in too long, looking for a meaty one
Does the Titans standalone for Planetary Annihilation fix how shit the original was?
More of a fan of brood war/DoW1 style stuff rather than DoW2/CoH style
>>
>>343734763
Yeah I really like it. The game takes a shitton of inspiration from Ace Combat with how the intro scenes are set up along with Armored Core

I'm also keeping an eye on Dual Gear, looks like some sort of Valkyrie Chronicles styled tactics game
>>
>>343728268
But for what purpose? Exploration is nice but if all I have to do is build random shit in each biome that's not enough for me. New recipes, new loot, somethin interactive besides new things trying to eat me that I have to stab with my shitty knife or time-stop gun.

>>343735134
Exactly, find new ingredients to make new shit. Although, if you don't like exploring for explorations' sake, probably shouldn't have bought the game.
>>
>>343734349
Dark Souls is fantastic and I recommend the PC version over the console version at this point. (couple mods and it looks and plays great just not with a kb/m but why the hell someone would play that kind of game with thatI don't know)

I honestly find the Batman games boring, though the voice acting is great. People love them though and that is pretty cheap. They are reasonably well made beatem ups its just they felt very Xbox 360ish with the start being a railroad of press forward to go forward. And I'm an asshole about that.

Red Faction is hit or miss. Good ideas, but some of the games are really fun. Though if you are after crazy destruction GTA or Just Cause may be able to fill that more.
>>
>>343724039
Don't Starve is definitely worth it, the soundtrack is GOAT. Subnautica isn't optimized very well and feels repetitive given that everything is always in the same place. Don't know about the others.

Well yeah, I mean you get communications that kind of give you slight "missions" to follow, and as far as I'm aware there's always new blueprints to craft to get more shit for your cyclops etc, but really it's a game for people who see a new area and just want to explore it on their own without having to be egged on by the game too much.

>convinced myself 30fps was good
Nah, actually I just play good games instead of whining about fps online while the devs laugh their asses off at you.

Oh, by the way, I have DSFix installed, you retarded faggot. I just didn't turn on 60fps. It messes with some physics in the game, and I didn't want to deal with that retarded shit, because I'm not a fucking baby, and can deal with things below 60fps. This is how you can tell someones' age online, bitching about 60fps is a dead fucking giveaway. All you've ever done is watched Carl on Duty streams online with totalnigger, so fps "bugs you" because you've been told that it should bug you.

I mean this unironically and sincerely- kill yourself.

Doom or no?

I've heard it has a problem where hitting ` will set you in dev mode and your unable to stop it and go back to your save or do multiplayer. Basically it assumes your about to cheat code it and just stays that way on all your saves and blocks you off any MP.

My biggest gripe with the steam sale is the fact that any single player game you could buy there, you could simple get for free elsewhere.

Are there any good multi player titles for around 23 eurodollars that are wort playing and paying for?

Try pirating Linux games. It's so niche, that it's impossible.

Shadows of Mordor is aggressively mediocre. Gameplay's fine on a mechanical level, the mix of Batman/Asscreed is pretty polished and well implemented, it even manages to be surprisingly challenging at times.

It's just so damn repetitive and uninspired. The open world is small and filled with nothing but repetitive side quests that serve no purpose other than to pad out the game. The Nemesis system that randomly generates Uruks and places them in a hierarchy is cool, however the system is pretty shallow. You can't play around with the Hierarchy and do anything that significantly affects the game world or changes the way you play the game. Warchiefs become easier to kill by taking their bodyguards or making them sleeper agents.

What's worse is the game sorta gives you a taste of how the Nemesis system could potentially be like. At the end of the game where you partake in a couple of battles with all your Warchiefs at your side. It's brief, but it's cool. I had one fucker with exploding arrows practically soloing the encounter.

It is a good game, if you're into Metal Gear. If you want to send a message to Konami, do it by ignoring their shitty games/decisions, not the few ones where they've actually put out a decent product.

it's just a 1024 resolution stretched over whatever res you're running and that is IF you get the game to run in the first place.

It almost seems like having all the Half-Life and Portal games is mandatory if you have a Steam account. I think they're all pretty good.

I can't tell you about the quality of Valve's other games, though.
>>
>>343738540
Well for $9.99 it aint that bad of a deal. I bought it 6 days ago for $16, so I'm just kinda salty I didn't wait. But yeah, if you don't mind Banham/Asscreed, you'll probably enjoy it, otherwise The Nemesis System isn't really enough to save it from mediocrity in my eyes.

well, you can't exactly pirate multiplayer games and play them with your friends.

Right. It really applies to single-player stuff only.

I was just wondering if there was anything in that complaint about Steam in particular, aside from Steam being popular. Surely GOG games are easier to pirate, being DRM-free and all.
