If you think about it, it was an ingenious move. Go ahead and watch any gaming publication's playthrough of a recent Nintendo game. Half the time they fumble around with the controller and press the wrong buttons because Microsoft has effectively alienated non-Nintendo players against Nintendo's controller scheme.
I haven't paid too much attention recently but the last video I bothered watching that shows this is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.Learning Xbox 360 controls was a bitch.
