It's a very slowpaced traditial PS2 style JRPG it made me feel kind of nostalgic.
The only real downsides to this game I felt was 1 the story moves at an insane snails pace 2 it's obviously low budget and looks like a Dreamcast game if that bothers you and 3 Nothing actually really happens besides setting up a sequel I assume will be more exciting.
There's also this odd friendship thing that makes it feel like some Persona wannabe.
Basically I liked it but it's slow paced and can be dull at times.

Who has the best extra scenes in CSII if you picked them as a dancing partner? I picked Laura my first time around but she doesn't seem to have a very big role in the next game. I'm going through NG+ and was thinking about picking Emma or Crow.
I like it alot. In a sea of drpg, nepnep, and AAA floundering, cold steel feels like the kind of jrpg I've been craving for a long time.

There are exceptions to every rule. Plus, she had like 100+ hours worth of screen time being the MC and all.
She's still damn amazing and one of my favorite MCs in vidya history, but I'm just saying overall Falcom usually plays it a little too weak with the female characters, especially Cold Steel and onwards.
I blame that mostly on the harem shit though. If you want to damage your character building and connections, introduce harem shit to your games. A lot of Tita and Schera's best scenes come from their interactions with Agate and Oliver respectively. With harem shit you need to rob those connections and instead pit them with the MC so he has a reason to want to bone them.

The best example I can think of is in Gaius's home town where the truck breaks down. And the sum of her mechanical expertise boiled down to being able to point at something broke and say "shit's broke" and then the villagers go visit the mechanic they'd have to had to see anyways.
