It is quite beautiful, the devs seen to really care about their game.
The pro is that the game is quite huge, a lot of content.
The problem is that it seens to lack depth, so dont expect stuff like wow raid mechanics on their bosses.
I think however that the best thing about it is that it is new. Older mmos usually become Frankensteins of other games, most of which getting useless later on.
Example: i remember pretty much every mmo added in a facebook tier farm minigame to get some collectibles around 3 or 4 years ago, when it was more famous. It is a shitty mechanic, but sticked into the game.
Then about 1 year, they started to copy to Garrison mechanics from wow, which is similar to farming, but different.
There was also pets long ago.
And they dont keep updating, they just put something new, and ignore the old that becomes stagnant. Tell me, how many mmos you have found with obsolete currencies that were used in specific events / updates that still left there, even if useless?
Elder Scrolls Online isn't bad if you expect it to be skyrim online

I left WoW because I was finally bored and tired of dealing with the handful of shit people in my guild running stuff. Switched to XIV because I had a handful of RL friends who played it. Fucking christ, the community of XIV have literally never played a god damn video game in their life. Every other dungeon is full of retards who don't know how to push buttons every time a gcd is up or don't know how to not stand in the clearly marked "you're going to get fucked" zoned.

There is no free version. There is a free trial for the first 20 levels, after that you have to buy the game which includes a 30 day sub.
Also about playing with no friends, that's what I do and I have 1,500 hours in the game and I still play today. Be warned though it's a mix of because I'm probably a jaded old fuck and there are lots of immature kids playing thanks to it also being on consoles for as to why I chose to play alone. Since you posted an anime girl though I'm sure you'll fit in with the huge amount of weebs in no time.

But EVE is fun, even as a solo player.
Planetside is an FPS, yes. It's an MMOFPS.
And I think Runescape looks fine, the graphics really have come a long way and it's still updated, I think that's impressive.

The only thing buying the Xpac with the base game will do in the early games is allow you to play the lizard people, the AuRa. But, after your second month of paying, I think, you get an item called Fantasia that allows you to 100% re create your character, except for their name.
Although as soon as you hit level 50, the Xpac is worth it so you can level to 51 or 52 by the time you actually reach the expansion stuff.
