Let's assume for a moment that League IS slowly dying, and that over the next two years they'll lose 70% of their fanbase until all that's left is a more loyal, hardcore fanbase who will continue to play regardless. Sure, the end result is that League will EVENTUALLY bleed out and die. But not before an absurd amount of cash is milked from the dwindling population. Even if League were to suddenly die today due to meme magic, enough money has been made from microtransactions for everyone at Riot to live like kings. All they'd have to do is sell all of the company's assets, including everything from office buildings to the logo and brand name.

LoL always had the ability power scaling over Dota, whoch was a cool idea, and back when all abilities scaled with ability power it opened up alternate builds for a lot of right clickers that completely changed their playstyle, like Tristana, Tryndamere, Yi and Xin.
Removing that and making characters with attack damage scaling on abilities was the beginning of the end for LoL, them reworking old characters to remove all AP scaling from their abilities was the first nail in the coffin.

I follow both LoL and Dota2 esports but I think dota is more comfy because the players and casters arent Valve employees so it doesnt feel so scripted and strict. League feels more like a circus show.
I think this season changing how the regular season works (all the teams play one 3 game series for the day) is killing the viewership so much. Nobody has fucking time to watch LoL games from 2-9pm and there is more wait in between matches, in addition to the commentators losing energy cause of so many games.
I think one of the things people liked about LoL compared to normal sports is that you could spend an entire afternoon of about 4 hours and watch every single one of the teams play. Now it takes 3 hours to watch 2 teams play

THey realeased events a while ago explaining the new lore for the icy regions where in a 3 party conflict and later on one that talked about the lore of the sea/pirate characters including TF and graves somewhere in between. Everything else is none existant, not even the league or the summoners.
Frannkly the event were good and made you want to know more about the lore and the new game modes were really fun and made the game feel overall more alive. Then they scrapped all the modes and returned to a forced summoners rift who as of now has no reason to exist and the champs has nothing to do there.

I started league late S2 and loved. Played it all the time with my mates. I tried out dota and absolutely hated how the game felt. However, I was intrigued by all the crazy gamebreaking spells that I saw. Slowly I started playing more and more dota while continuing to play league. At some point I felt dota simply offered me more options and playstyles compared to league. I still liked the game but I felt like I had learned all I could in that game and there was not that much challenge and excitement left. I could buy a new champ and do well even on the first try. All that was left was to figure out which champs and items were good in each patch. Nowadays I hardly play league at all. On the other hand I have nearly 4000 hours in dota and I still haven't learned everything. I still cant play Invoker or Meepo for shit. I still cant micro illusion heroes like Naga effectively. I still miss my neutral stack timer sometimes. My last hitting and general farming efficiency could use some work. And it's fun trying to think which items I need to build in each game based on the enemy team and the hero I have, something which I feel is very limited in league.
Anyone here play Smite? I think it's more fun even though I suck at it. If only queues weren't 3 minutes long.

It used to be far less so. It was originally kind of like a dota-lite, nice to bring new people into the genre with or to just kind of zone out to while still having the same appeals as dota but now it's just an entirely different game for all the wrong reasons.
