AM is my favorite, especially after reading the original work. Even the name is so dramatic and omnipresent. He is the state of existence. And he did what mankind never could do, keeping people alive well past their lifespan, and all for the sole purpose of torturing them. And he's not even just some program that woke up, he actually consumed other programs like himself and through eating his brothers, grew to hate humans to such an impossible level. I know I'm rambling, I'm tired and sick, but goddammit, I loved I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, the story and the game. Ellison's narration as AM was also excellent.
Mother Brain hardly fits in. All others have presence through the story and are clearly artificial.
Mother Brain on other hand is only encountered at the end of game and is organic.

Nope. All we know about AM's origins was that his world was in a state of perpetual war so the US, China, and Russia each built their own supercomputer to wage the war for them. AM was one of those supercomputers and he eventually gained enough sentience to take control of the remaining 2 and nuke everyone

No, but:
1. It's unclear whether everything is literally happening, or if it's all a simulation being run by AM.
2. AM only has absolute control within the confines of his own body (which, by the time of the story, encompasses the entire planet).
3. Harlan Ellison writes the softest science fiction imaginable. It's basically fantasy.

GLaDOS, just because of how integral she was to Portal's experience. You could take out almost any of the other AIs and while the games would suffer for it, they'd still be great games. GLaDOS made an otherwise good game fucking excellent.

What kind of contest. I agree a couple of these AIs might have a difficult conflict with each other given how each operate, but AM is literally immortal to them.
AM covers an ENTIRE planet, you can't hope to harm him, let alone win. He doesn't lose in the book, and it takes cooperation with fragments of AM and humans to weaken him... And that's only when he was distracted in a bunch of post-torture self-reflection.

I'm gonna echo everyone else in the thread and say that AM would dominate all of them. Only possibility is if SHODAN or Guilty Spark had a space ship and could attack without touching the planet. Even then it would take months to do enough damage to defeat AM.
Colonel would ally with Eden, and might be able to convince GLaDOS to join them. Icarus would pick fights and get killed quickly by anyone else. Nobody likes Mother Brain so she would die first.
