For some reason video game makers are incapable of sticking to their guns on that one. For example, I bought Final Fantasy X-2 because the tagline was, "Last time she saved the world, this time it's personal." It's a decent hook, even while it's Grrl Power: The Game, but of course midway through what happens? Giant robot from the Farplane. (I like to think Yuna pregamed the Thousand Words concert with some ketamine, and the whole giant robot/Tidus lookalike thing was her psychoactive way of working through her loss.)
Or, for that matter, Mass Effect 2, a game about fact-finding and exploring options for President Bartlett. But they just couldn't stop themselves.

Thing is though, 'random arid Milky Way planet' and 'random arid Andromeda planet' aren't going to look terrible different from each other because fundamentally they're basically the same.
The planets are probably going to display the same amount of environmental diversity as the previous games because - as far as we know - the basic stuff doesn't randomly change between galaxies.

I don't mind the direction they were trying to go with it, but holy fucking shit was the execution quite literally one of the worst things I've ever seen in a video game. An alien race with hair makes for a nice change from the 'all hairless all the time' trend that all of the others subscribe to; plus you could see right from the very first game that Tali's face was incredibly humanoid in structure.

Did the end of the cold war kill a lot of the interest in sci-fi? I mean don't get me wrong, I'm glad the cold war is over and the bad guys lost, but I kinda feel nostalgic for the 60s/70s/80s even though I didn't live though that because I really like the sci-fi art from that period.
While the graphics and aesthetics of Andromeda looks good, from a narrative and gameplay standpoint Bioware hasn't had a good track record lately, nevermind the fact that most of their talent already left, it doesn't look good. The trailer might look nice but they have a track record of downgrading and having bad animations. Not to mention that they started injecting SJW shit in their games.

I'm kind of sad that they had to completely abandon Milky Way. There was a lot of places that could have been fun to explore.
My one concern is that now that they're having a fresh start with Andromeda that re-using races and technology will compromise the story. They either have to re-tread the Arc species' backstories or ignore them. Plus there were supposed to be some other intelligent species in the Milky Way that we never saw. Will any of them be present? I almost wish they had started another sci-fi series so they didn't have that baggage.
