So Delta can read people's mind but those this mean that if he read a shifter he can read-shift the mind from another timeline sorta like hyperlinks on a site?
>>343538265
How would he be able to do that?
>>343537614
Now that I think back on it the shifting adventure was fun, I was just hoping it would lead to something better, and it didn't at all.
My favorite scene had to be, HEY AKANE YOU'RE HOT, LET'S FUCK and Junpei not even really doing anything until Carlos is already on top of her.
Because it was so out of left field, I could barely handle it.
Also, yelling at Sigma to shove his dick into Diana because there was too much filler before he went balls deep. SLEEP WITH ME.
I was yelling "CURE HER WITH THE DICK SIGMA" when she ran away "SIGMA WHY DIDN'T YOU USE YOUR DICK NOW SHE'S GONNA KILL HERSELF"

I'm still mixed on how the ending turned out and how some plot points were either ignored or brushed off but damn I love the last few moments of the ending and it definitely benefits from being open ended. "This is the decision game" sent chills down my spine, especially with the credits music playing shortly after
guys I don't get this one thing, if a copy of carlos was transported back 10 months to get out akane and junpei at the VLR end, he should be showing up at the end of every single timeline. But yet he never appears to bust out diana and sigma in their trapped timeline. And shouldn't there be an extra carlos walking around in the world even at the true end? Or did I miss something?

That anon was probably just trying to have fun. Probably is incredibly dissatisfied with Delta being the real mastermind and would've preferred the story to take another direction.I also recall that there was a huge number of people that wanted Carlos to be the villain pre-ZTD.
Do you think that Carlos ever shifted to a timeline to rape his sister just so he could know what she felt like inside?
>>343539519
why do you think he always looks so smug
>>343537412
I expected it would end up being Junpei about halfway through the room, honestly.

>>343539492
What's the usual amount of time that it takes for those to be released? Been into the series since before VLR but I never kept up with that back then.
>>343539484
Carlos is arguably one of the biggest dumbases in the game though
>>343536860
the first fragment I did post-vote was the pantry. i don't think i've ever been more excited about a video game than seeing a thumbnail of akane with a chainsaw and it really fucking delivered. love this game, i'm so glad we're in the timeline where it got made
Why is Carlos a replica of Joey from Yugioh?
>>343539519
No, Carlos in all timelines is pure, stop projecting your filthy fantasies on him.
>>343539717
That's not Eric.
Just finished the game like 5 minutes ago.
Would've preferred if Delta was just replaced with Akane as the sister of phi and daughter of sigma+diana. And her also being zero.
I really liked Delta and his motives though. You can't really argue with his logic.
That said I think this was the least good entry in the trilogy.
I really hope there won't be a 4th game since this open ending is the perfect way to end the story I think. Gives it a more cerebral touch.
>>343539000
Carlos is Zero.
Carlos created a new clone of himself every 10 months for years, or shorten down the cooling time for more clones.
Carlos was doing all of this so he could save every timeline's Akane and Junpei.
He had to have danger so he could shift to save everyone.
He Is told all he had to do was not have the decision game at all, then there would be no need to save them.
Carlos gives his best dumb-founded stare.
Credits roll.
>>343539734
what the fuck is up with your image?
>>343538562It's not open ended. Delta made two time lines when he handed Carlos the gun, one where he shoots delta and Carlos and the shifty crew fuck up the terrorist and save humanity, and the other where Delta releases radical 6 and deals with the terrorist.
That's what I got out of it anyway.
Was the lack of Kyle and Left really that much of a dealbreaker for this game?
Dumb question, what is the significance of both Akane andDeltahavingpurple eyes?Did I miss something obvious here?
>>343539892
Considering how Akane said sending Kyle's consciousness to the past was integral to their plan working, either Uchi forgot and created a big plothole, or Kyle was the Dog or Kyle was the fanatic.

Delta is the grandfather of Akane of course.
Okay, so.
I'm gonna go over the whole snail story, obvious spoilers follow.
>Snail appears on park trail
>Eric's mother decides to take a left, is killed by a young Mira.
>Akane's father is falsely accused of the act and ultimately dies, her mother then commits suicide. This affects Junpei's life by proxy.
>Sean's surgeon takes the taxi Akane's father called, is caught in a terrible accident and dies, fucking Sean over. Delta was really fond of Sean.
That's the gist of it, right? No connection to Carlos whatsoever? He seems oddly disconnected to the entire affair other than having an esper sister.
>>343539925
It means thatAkane was Zero after all
>>343540093
so wouldn't her father have died anyway
>>343539892
I think everyone had expectations on what would Kyle do since he was very important to the mission or who Left is, then were met with nothing. I blame the budget and not given enough time to work out the plot

How do you unlock more fragments? I'm stuck and can't figure out how to do so.
They talked a lot about the morality of SHIFTING and how it's essentially murder.
And then at the end they give you a final decision game where you can choose to stay in the basement or kill those happy people.
I thought the ending would be them realizing that SHIFTING is really immoral and accepting their fates with a smile.
NOPE. Fuck my other selves we gonna get outta here.

That was during the timeline where Q-Team loses the execution vote. Delta was executed then, too. The "deciding" vote to kill Q-Team would have been Carlos', since they were meant to vote for D-Team according to the plan.

The difficulty didn't bother me, all you have to do is place the large pieces first. It was just that there were so many of them in the game.. why? Why did you do it?
>>343541734
>Delta was executed then, too.
I was thinking about this last night and it really doesn't make any sense. Why would he kill himself?
All of the body movement is either done by him himself or all of the Seans, and he obviously has control over both, I mean, the game is in his control. For the sake of all the shifting I guess he would need the bomb strapped to his neck as well, but as Mira and Eric couldn't shift anyway, the only one capable of "knowing" that his bomb didn't go off was Sean, whose memory he could just erase.
He basically killed himself in the Q-team execution timeline for no good reason, it's retarded
The whole goddamn plot is retarded the more I think about it
>>343541398
Well if you look at it from a numbers stand point with the two timelines:
1)Delta dead, the super shifty squad either A) save everyone or B) Fuck up and humanity dies. 0% or 100%
2)Delta lives, radical 6 is released, 6 billion die and 2 billion remain. definite 66%
So by doing so, Delta creates at least one timeline in the new timeline he created with the won coin toss where humanity survives.
Though I just realised that since they do shift, there is probably billions of timelines branching off of 1 where they do fuck up and only 1 where they succeed.
It's one way of looking at it, but it's probably wrong.

The only fucking redeeming quality of ZTD was that awesome section of Sigma and Diana staying there for 10 months.

>>343542278
Because it was necessary for him to force Akane and Junpei to go to the timeline where C-Team is executed, as that's the timeline that leads to VLR.
It's not like Delta cares that he's dead or alive in a given history (as demonstrated multiple times, at least twice in the final ending), he only cares about his master plan.

Are you kidding? It was terrible. There was NO chemistry between Sigma and Diana until they were in the goddamn pod room fucking. God. It was so tacked on. Then of course she's pregnant in the next scene, giving birth in the following, and sending the twins into the transporter after that. There's no development. It showed exactly what it needed to to make the bullshit plot make any goddamn sense. Probably some of the worst writing in the series.
While ZTD is lackluster and leaves a lot of questions for the "true end" I still thought it was a fantastic game.
The atmosphere of the game was incredible and I really enjoyed the puzzles. Also the soundtrack is so good holy fuck (the new songs and the remixed ones).

Was the game really that bad or is this another case of overhyping the game beyond oblivion and beyond reasonable expectation?
>>343544061
Those robes are hers, they were in 999 too. It's the robe they put on Snake.
>>343543391
That reminds me:
If no one loses their memories at the end of the Radical-6 ending, why is it that they cannot give any information about the decision game to the people of that future? In VLR's ending, the Akane who literally just came back from a meeting with Delta (hence her robe) is talking to Phi, but can't give her any good info.
And if there are multiple timelines where a shifter survives, why can't they just point guns at each other, shift between each ending, write down what happens in the other endings, and shift back?
>>343543876
>there's no chemistry between sigma and Diana
I disagree. Considering what we know from VLR and Luna, the short story of them in Dcom in the booklet, his previous relationship with Diana back when he first went to the moon, and the 11 months of time the story skips, their relationship in ZTD didn't feel forced at all
>>343543971

>>343541571
Not entirely.
ZTD + the ports (which should be considerably cheaper and easy) could be announced as a funding initiative to see the viability of another volume.
All depends on what they want to do.
You may be thinking "Hey the third volume just game out but we're now working on a fourth!" would be bad, but it all depends on the context.
For instance, look at how Danganronpa is shitting on itself now with ending the original duology with anime entries and 3 being its own separate thing.

>>343544271
It wasn't a terrible game. I just felt that they could have done better than they did, ZTD was probably the weakest game in the series in my opinion.

>Had to work with the shitton of possibilities from VLR

>>343544271
The problem is that the game suffers from MGSV syndrome. There were many things promised that never came to fruition or were likely cut or changed due to time and budget constraints, Many of the plot threads ended in pants on head retarded ways, and there were things left unexplained. That said, just like MGSV, it was a good game.
You know what really bothers me?
I think this game could've become great on a whole other level with just a slightly larger budget.
The animations weren't THAT bad they just lacked some polish.

>>343544271

>>343544527
Absolutely. Hurts to think about what the game could've been had the budget not been so low. I can't imagine all the things Uchi had to cut in his writing. I'm sure he's proud of it overall, but this is definitely not the way he wanted to end it.
>>343543996
It's almost like they were mindbroken at a point. Sure, the candidness of the moment might be enthralling for others, but those months just seemed like one long bad end to me...I feel uncomfortable whenever I look at Team D now.

>>343544406
I'm fine with ZTD being the end of the series, honestly. I'd be happy with a fourth volume but only if it was another standalone; I think ZTD is the weakest of the three largely because of how many characters and plot points we already knew everything about.
Also,
>he thinks standalone DR3 isn't a ruse

I'm sure at this point he's just glad he got to do it

So having played 999 years ago and completely skipping VLR because fuck the Vita, this game's release on PC took me by complete surprise. As such, I went into the game with virtually zero (0) hype and with no idea what happens in VLR, but even then the game seemed great. I'd rate it on par with 999. The worst part was the animation.
I hope someone transcribes or records Uchi's AX panel today. I want to know how he feels about the game as a finished product.
>>343544891
>completely skipping VLR
you dun goof'd
>>343544271
I wouldn't call it good because of how terrible the production values are, and how unsubtle the writing is, but it's still entertaining. Just not worth $40.
Does anyone think this game has been a financial success?
What are the chances the game made enough money back to fund another entry?
>>343544891
Play VLR, it's really fucking good.
>>343544843
If DR 3 isn't standalone I'm done with that series. A sequel anime to 2 is already pushing it, I thought 2 was conclusive enough to end it
>>343544271
They wrapped up only what needed to be wrapped up. Even then, some new things were revealed to be unwrapped. One thing that we were led to think was important, wasn't, or, if it was, was very minimal.
In that way, they abandoned all the fluff that the other two games had.
When you have a lot of fluff that leads to nothing, questions / angry fans arrive.
What was the rule violation that caused Q to try to kill Carlos, Junpei, and Akane? Was it trying to enter the X-Passes from another timeline?
>>343544891
I liked 999 better than VLR. But I like VLR better than ZTD. So there is a chance you'll like VLR more than 999.
>>343543741
Well, maybe it's something else entirely? Perhaps Uchi knows that he didn't properly wrap up everything he promised he would and wants to do something a little more than a Q & A, but not exactly a game.
>>343544271
I can accept the things that people didn't like (except for people not liking Akane's characterization) but despite it all, I really liked it.
>>343544891
>not playing VLR because the vita
it's on 3ds too
>>343544891
Are you able to understand ZTD without playing VLR? I feel there would be so many moments that would be left unexplained.
>>343544406
Why is it bad that Danganronpa is making a fresh start for its 3rd game? The worst I heard about Danganronpa is that the story is bad, so they're rapping it up in an anime for people who like the story, while the 3rd game gets to start with something new for people who like everything else about the series. Seems like a win-win scenario for all fans.

>Was the game really that bad or is this another case of overhyping the game beyond oblivion and beyond reasonable expectation?
It subverts expectations because you expect things from previous games to be resolved in an emotionally satisfying manner.
Junpei/Akane's relationship isn't really satisfied. Akane comes off as a massive hypocrite in this game and Junpei clearly can't handle how he currently sees Akane now despite that he still cares for her.
Mira's epilogue file makes no sense. There is no reason for her to stop being a serial killer, much less hook up with Eric in prison.
The game just stops making sense and hamfists good endings everywhere. It's really disappointing.

Murder Akane

My favorite part of these games is the journey. Walking through a mystery and trying to make sense of the situation; sorting through the possibilities and identifying the red herrings. But ZTD's first twelve hours(2/3s of the game) is:
-Choose Fragment
-Watch Short Discussion
-Escape Puzzle Room
-Watch Aftermath
-Repeat
Which wouldn't be that bad if the story wasn't presented out of order so every outcome wasn't robbed of it's significance. The way the game is laid out is immensely unsatisfying to me. Every scene I'd watch would exist in a microcosm and every decision, every death, every outcome was meaningless at the time. There was no suspense and very little intrigue for each timeline. Add onto that the chore of doing all 13 puzzle rooms up front and only 1 of them having anything to do with the main plot and much of the game felt like busywork. That I had to burn time to get somewhere where things would start mattering. Most VLR puzzle rooms had exposition to get out. Aside from the transporter room, the other rooms with significance only had items dropped in them so certain endings could happen or for cleaner exposition later.
The last 1/3 of the game I started to enjoy, but without an enjoyable journey, it felt empty. Very few reveals were properly built up.
And while I agree by those disappointed with 999/VLR plot threads unanswered, they say "But other than that, I had a blast" and I feel like the only one who hated the way the game was designed.

anyone know the x-code(s) from the booklet?
>>343546164
29) When the Crash Keys twitter account was revealing the images of the participants of the decision game, they never revealed Sean.
30) There are a lot of Xes. X-doors, X-passes, etc. X is the roman numeral for 10.
31) (UNCONFIRMED) If you choose to shoot no one during the 3 way face off, you can see a little bit of the wheel chair.
32) In the C Team Execution Decision fragment, Carlos calls out for Mira and Eric through the vent, but not Q. Credit goes to Lumsyl.
33) When Q team goes to sleep, there are 4 thumps, not 3.
34) When Carlos seems to know Zero's identity in the beginning, it is presumably because he notices that there is one person missing (Q), so he makes the connection.
35) When at the Bar before the execution, and Sean asks where they were, they mentioned that "We all lived at Dcom. C team and D team were there too." Rather than "Both of us lived at Dcom."
36) The segment called "triangle" where there is a stand-off between Sean, Eric, and Mira. The Greek letter delta is a triangle.
37) How obsessed this game seems with 3. There are 3 teams (all of which we think have 3 members). The answer to the Monte Hall problem is locker 3. There are 3 survivors of the VLR timeline (without the time travel shenanigans). There are 3 x 2 shifters in the game. This is the 3rd game in the series. Delta, as mentioned, is a triangle symbol, with 3 sides.

It was a great game, and I'd say it was still a great Zero Escape game. That being said I'm disappointed about how many things from VLR went unexplained or only briefly mentioned. I'm not a huge fan of Eric and Mira as characters and some of the returning characters felt out of character compared to how they were in VLR or 999. The puzzles were good, but there were things like the pattern boxes that were reused a few times. Not to mention the lack of any final puzzle. The music was great, but there wasn't enough new music, and this is more of a nitpick than anything but I feel like Blue Bird was used way too much during D-Team's scenes. Overall a disappointing finale but a great game, I don't think it's as good as the other two though.
>>343548352

>the puzzles were good
>8 fucking sliding block puzzles
>3 or 4 matching all the patterns on this object "puzzles"
>4 or 5 rearranging these things by putting the biggest pieces first puzzles
It felt like I was playing a later Professor Layton game with all of the fucking recycling.
>>343548456
no, in fact, whenyou kill Delta in the 3 way standoff he specifically says I always called you Sean or something like that
>>343548338
The whole Sigma/Diana/Phi thing was brilliant. Really well done time travel plot twist that felt mostly organic.
>>343548456
There was a note near the end of the game saying that Sean was never called anything other than Sean.
Reminder that Gab was going to be Kyle but >budget cuts
>>343548110
I believe the game rigs the Monty Hall problem.
The task isn't to ensure victory, just answer the problem correctly (by switching) then letting the player move on.

You have to re-do some of the execution votes so you can see all of the execution scenes (the ones you've seen will glow on the global flowchart). Viewing all of them unlocks additional fragments.
>>343548556
I had the same problem. You have to trigger ALL dead scenes in the voting round. Do this by voting for whatever team is still greyed out.
>>343548198her first victim is named virginia
>>343548834
It doesn't rig the problem, I make the right decision by switching but lost because I switched away from the mask the first time I tried it.
>>343548628
That's why it's called a twist.

>shoot sigma
>blank happy feel-good times
>shoot Sigma
>blank
>shoot sigma
>blank
>shoot sigma
>finally the song changes to a more tragic one
>Phi shows how much of a compassionate and supportative woman she is by telling Diana it's all her fault
>Diana kills herself on the spot
>bad end
I feel cheated
>>343543225
yeah, it was so absurd.
I could walk through a ghetto neighborhood yelling 'I hate niggers' and basically I will have the same powers.
>>343548923
I mean if you switch, the game ensures it instead of 90%.
>>343549006
Would've been more interesting if the suicide attempt by Diana was a blank round.
>tfw I will never understand the Monty Hall problem
I mean, I understand the theory around it but not why changing should give you a better percentage in reality
>>343548834
If you switch you have a 90% chance of getting the right locker. So you still have a 10% chance of not getting the right locked.
>>343548740
Don't hold the button, press it on interval 1 seconds or so.
>>343549125
I know.... if it was rigged, I would not be able to switch and die, yet, it happened to me.
>>343548841
wtf i did it every way in the beginning and i'm somehow supposed to know to go back and do them again, unprompted? this game has a lot of bullshit in it
>>343543524
C - Q - D
the only correct order.
>>343549131
I'm pretty sure a blank round point blank will still fuck you up
Didn't we se pre-release something about sigma telling diana to use her finger to prevent the bullet from flying or something? Why wasn't that in the game?
>>343549006
>Phi 5 minutes earlier
SIGMA THINK ABOUT HOW DIANA WOULD FEEL IF YOU HAD HER SHOOT YOU
>After Sigma dies
DIANA YOU MURDERER, MURDERER!
>>343549154
You actually "feel" the monty hall problem.
If you have 1000 doors you pick one and i open 998 you can almost feel destiny pulling you towards that single door I didn't open yet.
this also happens with 3 doors but you just don't notice it so readily.
>>343549070
>>343549171
Well then.
