Dont et me wrong, I like dialogues and vidya references, but I kinda expect some content to support it. It was fun to play first RB. When playing RB3, with same enemies and areas reused over and over, it was just feeling lazy.

sure, there are plenty of new dungeons and enemies to fight, there are new party members and villains, new combos, enemies with breakable parts and all kinds of stuff
but if you're expecting it to not be a grindy cookie-cutter jrpg like the others, you'll be disappointed. you still have all the chirper events in town, the same dungeon exploration with hidden items, sending scouts to dungeons, all the traditional features are there

No. EX Guage resets after every battle, enemies have parts that you can break, status effects persist after battle. Weapons have a set number of combo slots that you can attach. If you want more nep, get it, otherwise skip out on it or wait until it has a lower price.

yes, the only essential game to play in order to fully understand VII's plot is Nep V since the story is built upon it
meanwhile, Rebirth 1 is the most skippable game in the series since it just establishes the basic concept of the main CPUs fighting against Arfoire and taking care of the world.
rebirth 2 at least is useful to introduce the imoutos, RB1 is basically useless in terms of canon.

I don't mean it as if the game is boring or just recycles stuff. it's just that it's better all around, feels like a next-gen leap for the series but it's still a Neptune game, just don't expect it to become Chrono Trigger or something.

I only played the first, I liked the meme dialogue and thought Compa was cute. Crafting system was the most enjoyable part, that somewhat made up for the grind. Thought it needed more clothes for the non-CPU characters, somehow incentivize their use. If it does indeed have all new assets, dungeons, weapons/crafting etc. I will probably get it. But as someone who enjoys lore, I'm not sure if I want to play through and buy all the others just to understand the story. More outfits for Compa will seal the deal.

Yes, like I said it's just an introductory title that explains what are CPUs, how Gamindustri works, who is Arfoire and basic stuff like that.

These extra characters represent game franchises and companies, all the games have people like them, telling jokes along the story and usually being useful in combat thanks to some slightly overpowered skills and equipment.
They are a way to make your party bigger, instead of just having you play around with Neptune / Noire / Blanc / Vert / IF / Compa all the time.
