ArmA: If you're into roleplaying but playing pretend and cruising with friends is about all it is.
Rainbow Six: Siege. Can be the most tactical FPS on the market with the right team. Points off for not having handsignals or voice hotkeys.
Americas Army 2: 2 has handsignals and awesome voice hotkeys. Just a good all around game if not a bit outdated.
Insurgency: Like the sequel AA should have had.

Running with Rifles
Swat 4 is the way to go if you have a few friends. There's also that British armed forces mod that makes it a bit less unforgiving (as far as accuracy goes), and includes some other stuff.

The original one now called Arma Cold War is good.
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising has a okay campaign and some missions are really good and intense, the game is more arcade-ish but it can be fun if you're not looking for a 100% realistic war simulator like Arma and just want to shot bad guys without going full Call of duty.
Operation Flashpoint Red River isn't that good, some missions are okay but they went with a more story based approach campaign and characterization definitely worse than Dragon Rising.
