Why anon, I'm glad you asked, because that gives me more opportunities to shill the game!
Anyway, there's a square divided equally into 15 sections, and you start in the middle of the square. The game has 7 chapters (+ prologue and epilogue), and each chapter has one photo shoot. The clothes you pick for Sonico to wear in each shoot have stats tied to them, and based on the total stats of your outfit each shoot you get moved around the big square accordingly. There are route splits in chapters 4 and 6 based on which column of squares you're in, with chapter 4 being one of three chapters for the middle three columns, and chapter 6 being one of 5 chapters for each column. Each square is then an ending, so each column/route has 3 endings based on secondary stats.
So say you wanted ending 1, in the top-left of the grid, you start in the middle, then each shoot you use stats that push you left and up, moving to the left route at chapter 4, and then the left route again at chapter 6, ending in box 1 at chapter 7.
This is complicated by each shoot coming with a client request, and you have to match the route-stats of the outfit with the request-stats in order to get an outfit that satisfies both the route path you want and the request.
I realised this would be easier to visualise with an image, so you can see my artistic work attached.

There's a code that comes with copies of the game that you need to solve a "puzzle" at the very end. There's about 13 of them hardcoded. You can find them yourself if you decrypt the game files and look through the scripts or look for the 2ch threads about it.

Nah, Sonico is the focus of the game and where all the budget went and it shows. Sonico has her 3D model, everyone else is shown with 2D portraits. The only decisions you have outside of conversations with Sonico is picking between different shoots in a chapter. On the plus side, Sonico is very expressive and the engine is great for that; she'll go through several expressions in a single line as they're tied to her voice instead of a line-by-line basis.

In a way.Seriously though, I found the photo shoot gameplay painfully easy, and the route mechanics needlessly obtuse. So in terms of gameplay, I didn't like it much. But Sonico is super cute and the different routes and many endings are good, and since I love playing dress-up the game is a godsend in that regard, with all the different clothing items available. I also found it to be genuinely funny, which I didn't expect going in. The bonus route is pretty amazing.
So if you can overlook the gameplay portions, I'd recommend it for the writing and dress-up options.
