I've never tried a melee/throwing run and I think it'd be interesting but I like sneaking around, and nothing punctuates a surprise attack like a hunting shotgun blast to the cranium. The problem with melee it seems is that people are gonna notice you and fill you with bullets before you smack them, which is sort of immersion breaking for me.

when you get your sneak skill up to 100, you basically have to walk directly in front of enemies for them to notice you. you'll still have to use some finesse, but with Silent Running it's a viable playstyle.

Legion probably. Without assistance, the NCR would have hamstrung rangers, no fire support from the boomers, angry khans assaulting them at the dam while McCarran is tied up from Fiends. House wouldn't have enough robots to make any difference so he'd twiddle his thumbs on the strip for a while. Independent Vegas is a possibility if the Legion and NCR fight to stalemate, but I don't see that happening with all the shit the Legion throws at them. Legion strength remains pretty much static without assistance with the exception of no artillery or bombing runs to assist them.

Well, they conscript people, so it's pretty large. No one has exact figures, but I'd imagine that the NCR has more bodies than the Legion overall. What exists in the Mojave is a fairly small portion of the NCR military, though. Most of the NCR is tied up in Baja or back West.

I've literally never heard this. They do have vertibirds at their disposal and definitely vehicles for a motorized division, but you don't see them used by the NCR in the Mojave. Probably an engine limitation.

I've noticed that NCR military camps with road access tend to have one or more of those big pre-war army trucks hanging around. Their models have flat tires and smashed windows, but I always thought they were supposed to represent NCR trucks for some reason.
What do you guys think about this mod, Im up for something new but I dont know if not doing vanilla HH is worth it

I think they are as well, but due to time constraints they couldn't put in alternate models for NCR trucks. When I was referring to when I said engine limitation was NCR piloted trucks and vertibirds around the Mojave. The only moving vehicle you see in the entire game is the Enclave vertibird in a scripted cutscene.

You mean Wild Wasteland? Assuming you don't have the DLC traits available, you did fine. Small Frame is a fine pick up at the cost of a little fragility. WW gives access to one of the best guns in the game, but other than that it's lackluster. Skilled and Good Natured are the cheese traits, but ultimately there are no BAD traits per se. They aren't really going to hinder your capability at all.

I like lonesome road for the weapons, armor, and Ulysses. When I went there I was already like level 35 so everything died in one hit so bullet sponges weren't a problem. LR is just a quest really, doesn't really feel like much of a DLC except for the new lands. Luckily it was pretty quick so it didn't drag along too much.

Actually lorewise, power Armor ran on small energy cells anyways and chewed through them astonishingly quickly. The whole power system of the T-45 had to be revamped so it wouldn't consume so many so quickly which led to the use of fusion cells as well. There are a ton of better than F3 Quest mods though....Someguy series are all great, Tales of the Burning Sands, NVEC I think it is has extra lore friendly quests, The Frontier is looking great, Beyond Boulder Dome was fantastic and Dog City Denver it's prequel is worth a play.
I'm sure there's more. Tales of the Burning Sands is definitely my choice as best NV Quest mod though

Vanilla honestly works fine out of the box these days. Wasn't the case a while ago, but it is now. Maybe after a playthrough or two give JSawyer's mod a shot or Project Nevada (I honestly don't like PN at all), but vanilla gameplay is fine as is. The gameplay mods that are out there just give QoL improvements.

My first playthrough, no DLC, was around 20-25 hours if I remember right. I kind of rushed it because I was unhappy with my decisions though. My second playthrough took much longer and I took my time. Probably around 40-45 hours. If you do exactly every quest in the game, including DLC, iirc it should take around 50 or so if you play at a relaxed pace. Maybe a little longer.

You could use JSawyer but it does change things up a lot, especially early game. Best to just play vanilla first so you can appreciate and evaluate the changes better
Average run really depends how much you get into the game and how much you explore. 20+ hours if you like it, easily. More if you go for the different endings or try out different builds

My last recommendation to you is to not google anything on your first few playthroughs, I'd even recommend not looking anything up until you've finished each faction once. Make your own conscious decisions before you start looking up perks, traits, quest endings and SPECIALs. It's far more fun to play through as a character you made yourself with your own decisions throughout the game and nothing will beat your first characters. Once you know everything, that feeling never comes back so enjoy it while you can. The game is still fucking fantastic long after this, but it doesn't quite hold the same value.
