If multiple people call your behavior toxic you should try and figure out why. A lot of people who "mean well" in online games. IE trying to direct the team, advise others on completion, getting people to switch characters in Overwatch or generally direct people just have no actual concept of how to talk to other humans and achieve the result that they want from people.
Calling someone bad, implying they are worse than you or are the result of the teams inability to do something or really any statement starting with condemnation is going to be met with resistance and aggression.
If you're getting overly vocal and portraying yourself as some hero of the team and assuming others just are to dumb to catch on instead of considering their experience level, situation ect you should re-evaluate your approach.
I always hear people talk about the community being frustrating in random chat in Overwatch or CSGO and other games like that. And I really do believe it's a lack of ability to speak to people properly which immediately creates aggression in people.
If you want to bring people into your way of thinking and incite teamwork, leadership and a better gaming experience in general. Always be polite and receptive to the people you speak to. When I solo que in any comp online games I give a hello first, see how people are doing and who's got a mic. Talk about our composition and make suggestions accordingly to what we need. When people switch when asked, thank them and show appreciation (we are driven heavily by a desire and enjoyment from feeling appreciated, people are far more likely to do stuff for you or be kind to you when they feel genuine appreciation from another).
Treat online interactions similarly to regular human interactions, talk with a smile, enjoy the game as much as possible and be receptive and respectful to others and acknowledge their strengths and help encourage them to build their weaknesses is a positive way.

To add to my middle statement, I have never found the CSGO/Overwatch community exceptionally shitty. I see what people are talking about, but this all stems from incited poor behavior. Obviously you'll meet the assholes from time to time. But you can do a lot more for yourself and other people with a constructive and positive attitude. It also helps to develop your naturally leadership abilities if you can go into a team, bring people into a good headspace, get them to be willing to switch characters and have a better gaming time. Even if you lose, people just wont feel as shitty when you do since you at least tried to form a semi bond at the beginning and an understanding of eachother as actual people and not just objects to yell at.
I don't play that many games where you're given the opportunity to vocalize when your panties are in a knot.
But I personally think it's "gg ez" or anything else that would annoy them. You're not a babysitter, it's their own fault if they get pissy over something.

Before video games it was a corporate buzzword regarding employees who didn't work well with each other and argued.
Jeffrey "Lyte" Lin, the Social Systems manager of League of Legends, pioneered the word's new definition as "any player who makes another player feel bad through their words".
At first, League players mocked him of his heavy and indiscriminate use of the word, but he'd completely removed League's community moderation system- the Tribunal- a year before, and as League was left almost COMPLETELY WITHOUT ANY KIND OF MODERATION for THREE YEARS, griefers, feeders and ragers became so rampant that people began to accept whatever Lyte said because they were desperate for moderation, and the word "toxic" caught on.

The term "toxic" is now mocked on /v/ for multiple reasons:

These people can actively affect the quality of a game experience because they affect things on a gameplay level (or in the last one, because they can potentially stab you). A feeder isn't simply going "you mad", he's doing that while actively making the other team stronger. These people do in fact need to be banned because they're shitheads that deserved to be punished for their behavior. Their actions are far more damaging than anything light taunting can do.
