Equip Blue Hurricane and farm the Great Ape Fest quests. The first one is PQ #52 and the second is in the extra DLC quests. Blue Hurricane completely ruins the stamina bar on the apes so you can grab their tails, or outright one-shots them if you have a decent amount of points in Strike Supers.

The story mode had little to no real animation in it.
And there was less for them to work on overall other than just adding new characters, stages, and unique moves.

Still pretty much robots though, except for the being alive part. Their bodies weigh thousands of tons, ingest lava as a snack, and their bodies are hard to the point that even saiyans have a hard time giving them real damage. They seem almost invulnerable to outside damage for the most part.
Their one weakness however is that they are very weak emotionally. Also they can't fly and aren't extremely fast, so breaking the ground below them is also effective I guess.
