Why do people like this game?
>>

I have no idea, total piece of shit. Never played it, never will.

Those things do not go together at all

Shit opinion btw, anon.

What did you like about it, anon?
>>
>>343456218
It's what some people enjoy.

>>343456403
There are more human enemies than there are zombies (can't remember their name).
Many more.
>>
>>343456690
It was a masterpiece in storytelling. I literally had to keep a box of tissues nearby, that was how often I shed a tear as I was marvelling at the depth of the characters, fully embroiled in their fortunes.
>>
>Why do people like x?
Just sage this shit.
>>
it's a shitty stealth game, and the story ends up going nowhere. it's like watching the progress of someone's life, but there was no point
>>
>>343456883
This, but unironically.
:^)

>>
>>343456218
Because people think it was the first game to have a good story.
>>
>>343456895
Better question then, why did it get so many 10/10s? It wasn't THAT good was it?

>>343457283
Does it have a good story?
>>
>>343457353
It was okay
>>
>hordes are intense
>combat is fun enough. Not exactly 'interesting' but it's still enjoyable and I love feeling like the fucking hulk
>stunning visuals
>extremely story driven and it's good that they embraced it
>interesting environments
>the relationship between Joel and Ellie was very touching

Matter fact I need to get this game again, thanks for reminding me op.
>>
Good story
Good characters
god tier survival gameplay on hard and up
simple and easy crafting system
decent multiplayer
good ending
>>
>>343457353
It's because people think an emotional story makes good writing kind of like oscar bait.
>>
>>343456218
because muh feels and dealing with taboos in western videogames like rape
>>
>>343457353
Story is one of the best. It's the type of game that once you beat you'll sit back like 'holy shit. What do I do with my life'
>>
>>343457353
>Does it have a good story?

Depends what you mean by good really, it's cliche and generic but it does everything it wants to well. It just doesn't do a lot.

>>
>>343456218
For me it was really my first introduction to modern gaming. Stopped playing games after PS2 and Xbox 360, last game I played was probably FFXII.

Keep hearing amazing things about this game, decide it's worth getting a PS3 for.
Play it and am amazed. Brilliant voice acting (not like cringey FFX) amazingly executed story (even if predictable at times) and flawless gameplay. And it felt LONG on my first playthrough. I kept expecting it to be over and it kept on going. With quite varied level design too, that give the player lots of options on how to proceed.

Have since gone on to play the Uncharted series and realize there are many, many other games with these aspects that could be as good or better.

There's nothing you can say to it being a bad game, even if you think it's overrated.

On my second playthrough I didn't get nearly as much enjoyment out of it. I wish NG+ was more difficult, because it was a cakewalk. I beat it in maybe half the time it took me originally. I wasn't as emotionally invested in the story because I had just heard it. If none of the great qualities of the game impressed you when you first played it, I can understand how you felt. But you have to be pretty stupid to not understand why people like the game.
>>
>>343456901
Wow man you really missed the point of the ending. Just because everything you went through was all for naught doesn't mean the story went nowhere. Jeezus
>>
It gave me a good fap opportunity.
>>

I want to impregnate Ellen Page

>>
>>343457778

>>
>>343456218

its fun and the story isnt bad for a self consciously inoffensive video game
>>
>>343458051
>>343458070
I'm not trying to say another game has a better plot. I just don't think The Last of Us actually had one. "We need to get to that thing in the distance" over and over isn't really a good story. The plot only really happens at the very start and the very end.
>>
>>343457830

story was so so but dan dohertys character was great because it was basically dan doherty
>>
>>343457830
It may have been predictable at times but it was done really well. Everything they wanted to hit they hit nicely. The characters were the most believable I've played in a game. It's all very "real" and well done. After playing this, I started watching the Walking Dead and just laughed at how retarded the characters were compared to LoU. Then again, WD takes place immediately after and LoU takes place decades after.

>>343456403

Ellen Page has nothing to do with this game but everyone thinks she does.
>>
>>343458572

its a father daughter simulator anon, not an actual story

also its pretty standard for games to not really have overarching narratives. lots of games game an overall story goal, and then you go to various locations and deal with various characters and subplots before moving on
>>

So where does all the super praise and "citizen kane" stuff come from?

What does it do that no game has done before?
>>
>>343458572
Dude, it was REAL, that's what you don't like. When you have to survive and it's about life and death and horror, you have to focus on the things that are in your control, and on your goal. All you can think about is where you need to get to, and if you're interrupted by zombies or cannibals then you deal with them in the moment and that's it.

The story was perfect for the game you just wanted some fantasy thing.
>>
>>343459164
Similar face I guess. I've heard it a lot. When my gf started watching me play she was like, wait so you play as Ellen Page? Lol. But not just her, tons of people have made the connection. I agree, their faces are quite similar.

You basically described RE4. The Evil Within was shit while Naughty Dog managed to capture the feel of one of the best RE games. Which is the reason why I like it.

I thought it was okay. I just wanna know why people seem to go crazy for it. It wasn't as well written as The Walking Dead game and it didn't play as well as Splinter Cell or Metal Gear or whatever.

Behold the real hero of The Last of Us
>Ish was initially out to sea for several months before being forced to go ashore near the Pittsburgh sewer entrance. [1] He took up residence inside, eventually constructing his own safehouse. [2] In need of supplies, he searched the nearby suburbs, where he encountered a family, Susan, Kyle and their children, who - much to his surprise - did not shoot him on sight. They traded supplies with each other before Ish returned to his hideout.[3] Ish, lonely and realizing that there was no point in surviving alone, then went back to the family to offer them refuge in the sewers. [4] The group obliged, and the safehouse eventually became a thriving community. they had a school, makeshift beds, shower stalls, and even rain catchers. [5] Ish met a man called Danny, deciding the two should become the protectors of the community, salvaging, armor, Assault Rifles and sawed off shotguns from dead soldiers. [6]
>At an unknown point in time, a door leading to the safehouse was left open by one of the group, which allowed a horde of infected to flood in. Ish, Susan, and a few of the children managed to escape, barricading the suburb-side entrance to the sewers. Kyle was separated from the group, where he became trapped in a room with a small group of children; the infected at the door. It is implied that he shot all of the children to save them a worse fate, before committing suicide. [7]
>Ish and those who managed to escape with him took shelter in the suburbs, Ish now protecting the last of his group. [8] His fate, as well as that of Susan's and several children, is currently left unknown.

I think he was complaining that the characters have a lot of dialogue like "Alright, there's the capital. C'mon, let's go."

Even though that is spot on A+ exactly how people would talk in that situation.

He just doesn't like realism.

While it does sound reductive, there is no plot to grasp from gameplay segment to gameplay segment.

The plot is "take Ellie to the Fireflies." And it still the plot until the end of the Spring chapter. Other games have different reasons for going to that thing in the distance.
>>
>>343459850

is it even controversial at this point to say that todays jouranlist judge media based on politics instead of merit? how many articles and reviews do people need to read?

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it.

It would have been better as a TV series.
>>
>>343459175
>So where does all the super praise and "citizen kane" stuff come from?

All this stuff is obviously overstated and over-exaggerated. But Sony spends a lot of money on production values and it shows. The story may fall into a lot of overused "zombie survival" tropes. But those are the stories a vast majority of people like. Not trying to make an ad populum argument. But the Walking Dead is popular for a reason.

I didn't mean to convey that I don't like realism. I liked the tone and acting in it a lot. I just didn't like much else.
>>
>>343460779
That's untrue, but I don't blame you for thinking this. The fact is, most people don't know much about the candidate they don't support. They know just enough to hate them, nothing else. Once I realized I was guilty of this myself, I realized everyone is like this.

Bernie actually has thought out plans that would be successful if put into action. His campaign is nothing but "slogans" ie his message, the message he's trying to get out.

But if you look for the boring stuff, boring interviews he's done, boring footage of him in congress, you realize what he's up to, and it's nothing short of amazing.

Now, I fucking hate Clinton, but after doing research it's clear she's done at least some good stuff.

Trump is unknown because he's never been a politician before. We can only listen to what he says and hope he follows through.
>>
>>343460779

you know there are a lot more elections than presidential, right? You vote for your state senate and house, the federal senate and house, governor, various local and county positions, etc

the congress is the most powerful political entity in the country but I bet you dont even know whos running in your state. state legislatures have a lot of power, as well. and heres a newsflash, research has shown that congressional representatives are more responsive to their constituencies than party leadership. thats why every bill has 100 pounds of pork, congressmen only care about catering to their electorate because all they care about is election. if you want your senator or representative to put his sway behind the candidate you like, fucking email them and let them know that. if thats the majority opinion in their state they support that candidate. your ignorant cynicism triggers me
>>
>>343461675

what the fuck are you talking about? How do you think elections work? electoral college is gerrymandered for congress, not presidents. more districts won is the winner, usually its a really tight race. its never predetermined you fucking moron. and the candidates are usually in line with mainstream america. trump and bernie are extreme candidates, clinton is middle of the road so shes the most popular. its not some diabolical plot

Saying:
>Of course not, the US isn't a socialist country. Just has flavors of it.

Is completely different to make the statement:
>we already live in a democratic socialist country,

Firemen, for example, aren't Socialist... They aren't a means of production, they're not Capital, they're a federally funded institution which serve a social good. Just because something is federally funded by taxpayers doesn't suddenly make it Socialist, if that were the case, every single civilization in history would suddenly be Socialist.

Probably the only things which can be construed as "Socialism" is Social Welfare and universal healthcare, since it's technically a redistribution of capital for the purpose of a social good, but once again, a Social Democracy, or even a Fascist country, can have these two things and still can't be Socialist countries.

Having a military isn't considered Socialism, yet it's still funded by taxpayers. See how this makes no sense?

There are only three countries in the world which is actually Socialist, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, as far as I'm aware. Why? Because these countries OWN the means of production and regulate it, Venezuela is an actual Democratic Socialist country. Sweden, for example, is not.

how is it a meme? wages have been stagnant for decades compared to inflation. consumer costs have gone up considerably and corporate profits have skyrocketed. 30 million people are on food stamps and the minimum wage keeps people below the povery line. which part of that do you support?

Whenever games allow choices at the end people complain about consistency/continuity errors so I'm kind of glad they didn't do that

I liked the Uncharted games. I was ready for a more serious and actual gameplay focused game from them. But it didn't translate well at all.

Like the Uncharteds, it had the tone and the character chit chat down. Everything else in TLOU just felt painfully average and the game dragged on forever.

lmao. we have state sponsored farms, state sponsored food inspection, state sponsored welfare. social security is socialism, you contribute your capital to the state and its dispersed to the public. its not all or nothing, everything is along a spectrum. its not even flavors. we balance capitalism and socialism.

>The USA is a fucking republic you stupid shit.

lmao. its not a republic. republics arent necessarily democratic. we live in a democratic democracy which is the same as a democratic republic. but its not a classical, or direct democracy

>Representative democracy (also indirect democracy, representative republic, or psephocracy) is a variety of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy.[2]

Youre pretty dumb
