And it isn't a minute, it's about 10 seconds roughly.
Spammers are going to do their thing, especially in highly populated streams.
I've found plenty of smaller streamers within the 50 to 200 viewer range and the experience is completely night and day.

It was a tedious glitch that they explained for 13 minutes as they did the same rote action of climbing stairs (to overflow a mem address and set the games state to the end). Then they asked at some point what the count was and the viewer realized they hadn't been keeping track of what they were doing. They said a number was close enough and exited the glitch at what they thought was the right time. It wasn't. 13 minutes of listening to them explain a glitch and just chit chat and it didn't work.
The glitch was climbing the same set of stairs over and over for 13 minutes. It was pretty dismal.

A major part of getting through the game as fast as possible is glitching past stuff. It's most apparent in RPGs where you can save hours by skipping something, but is relevant in most games. As far as skipping right to the end, that's rarely possible, and when it is runners create and prefer playing categories that exclude it.

I see, feels weird that they skip some parts but then again they are speedrunning, sort of mixed feelings about that but at least it's mentioned in the tags and I guess if you watch it knowing that they are trying to glitch it can be entertaining. I always thought speedrunning was about clearing a game as fast as you can without glitches, bugs or whatever, if everyone's ok with using them then why not I guess.
I basically only watch GDQs because it's the only thing I know that has cool speedruns with some explanation of what's going on, whereas most speedrun videos of the runners themselves don't have that.
What are some other sources of runs with explanations? I saw you guys talking about "NASA" but I don't know what that is.
