Aren't the dlc characters coming out now "season 1"? So if there's other planned on a possible s2 wouldn't they have to somehow be in the story? All dlc characters so far were shown. So with that in mind I think they're gonna continue from there with Gil. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Bridging to SF3 is unavoidable at this point anyway.

Story started off entertaining, but turned out really shitty. Ryu of all people beating Bison (instead of Chun Li or Guile) was fucking stupid. The humor and execution was also really awkward because you can tell they are too afraid to stick with their Japanese roots as they want to appeal to the dudebros.
Also the transitions and cuts were awful. Scenes happened way too often with loading in between each one. It could have done better to just have longer scenes with less transitions.

A little disappointing, but I'm not really sure why I was expecting much from a Capcom story. Having the Dolls was nice so Vega, Balrog, and FANG didn't get used like Baraka and Reptile in MK9, and a handful of the character interactions were neat.
Also Karin was in like 10+ fights and fucking won every single one of them, meanwhile Chun-Li lost to fucking Rashid and Cammy was completely incapable of beating Vega.

I hate when fighting game developers do this. Change characters like Birdie or Mika who weren't liked or who have movesets that would guarantee they would be bottom tier. A lot of people loved Juri. Not bad not great, pretty damn fun and i appreciate the lead into the the Street fighter 3 plot, with Gill prepping for the extinction of Mankind.
They left a ton of holes for some of the SF4 cast to fit into to post Sf3 plot as well.
Can't wait to see SF2/alpha characters finally mesh and fight with SF3 characters too.

At the beginner level, it really doesn't make a difference, just whatever you find comfortable. Ultimately an arcade stick/fightpad will not make you automatically good at fighting games.
I had low expectations but it's still depressingly low budget. I feel SF deserves something much better than the rough presentation, poor pacing easy story mode that we got. Most of all though it needed a better ending and a better final boss than normal Bison.

i watched some of it online and it seems entertaining enough. it's miles better than that Jojo Eyes of Heaven approach where characters all stand in default pose in a circle and share plot points, then shout "look out!" and have a fight, then go back to standing and talking.

The roller coaster of quality that is this game is so infuriating. On one hand we get Urien who's PERFECT and then we get others who just look like they were hit by a bus. The story mode felt like the epitome of this struggle.
I thought it was pretty rad. Felt like a dumb cartoon.
Also Ibuki and Mika are my favorite characters so them being rivals the whole time was pretty amazing.
I fucking loved it, it was great seeing all the character interactions.
I especially liked the wise old man instant translocation Dhalsim and the muscle Zangief.

I kind of hated Rashid for most of the story for being sold as a comedy protagonist and being painfully unfunny. Those "character makes a funny pose when they're being ignored or learn shocking information" anime jokes really don't translate well to 3D at all.

i've never understood this shitposting about how storymode doesn't matter, as if it's not a staple of every fighting game ever made, regardless.
it doesn't matter how "important" it is to FGC meta, people weren't commenting on how "necessary" it may or may not have been. the reason people were pissed is because they didn't launch the game with features that are considered "barebones standards" of fighters, like a fucking actual Arcade Mode at the VERY least.

Story mode has never been a standard. Arcade mode with one drawn picture at the end was the standard, and the vast majority of people that whine about it have never even beaten any arcade modes. You can even tell then didn't because they legit get basic details wrong as if they're reading some lore fags wiki.
So people were pissed about a feature that they don't even use and complete being missing, then they were pissed about not having six hours of cutscenes instead of game.
