Sap wasn't reliable the same way something like polymorph was (even with sub talents, in vanilla it still had 10% chance of putting you in combat, it only worked on humanoids and while a skilled player could work around such restrictions, it was sometimes tricky to use, especially with stealth detectors) and rogues aren't particularly high DPS either without getting windfury/BoM, battle shout and other buffs. I suppose there's some value in soft CC (stuns and kicks) but that's at cost of damage. While vanilla/TBC wasn't a AoE fest like WotLK, it was sometimes useful and rogues didn't have any.
The premier 5-man DPS in vanilla/TBC was mage. Strong reliable control, burst DPS with little setup required, survivable (even if you did overaggro, you could just kite mobs no problem) and either the best AoE burst (Flamestrike -> Dragon's Breath -> Blast Wave combo that was enough to kill many non-elite packs like skeletons in Shadow Labyrinth) or AoE with high degree of control (improved Blizzard).

There is a boss fight with hundreds of skeleton mobs near him. You need a mage for AoE.
The Final Boss is hard as fuck without Hunter taking out the mobs ASAP.
Are there any fun healers in vanilla WoW? I mained SCH progression raiding in FFXIV because I could press a lot of buttons in raids, is there anything similar or is healing boring shit?

Being a single druid in a raid can be fun or the main priest but the rest is pretty one button spammy. On the other hand if you're a paladin healer you got a lot of time to direct the other healers or even the raid around.

During Vanilla Nax patch, there were hybrid Druids: Balance / Resto builds.
Balance points were to increase critical damage of Wrath and Moonfire and every Druid spell in general
Resto points were spent to make Healing Touch the best. Using low rank Healing Touch with 1.5 sec casting time to heal the raid and costing a piss poor mana. With the Balance points on Critical chance on eveyr Druid spell, you crit healed with Healing Touch more than a full Resto Druid
These were probably the best Raid healers that can also do a great Moonfire to bosses at the same time. This spec never had to worry about going out of mana.

I had an addon that would do this automatically. Except when I had the game minimized it wouldn't trigger the grats until I tabbed back in and I got a lot of weird looks for saying grats out of nowhere.

Yeah, Army of the Dead given at lvl 80, was garbage at first and the ghouls died by just being breathed at, but later got buffed so they could take at least a hit and they taunted anything they hit (except raid bosses for obvious reasons). I used that in our server first kill of the Lich King, as the ghouls kept the ghosts, or whatever they are called that the fucker spawns, in check.
Also when Dark Simulacrum worked on raid bosses was the most hilarious shit... I uploaded a video a long time ago:

That's not true. The decisions aren't "stupid", most of what they do is a good idea in certain lights. Cross realm LFG seemed like a great idea, you could get into dungeons quicker and pound out heroics faster... Except there was the consequence of essentially killing the sense of community. Class homogenization was the same kind of thing-- great in the sense that classes that had shit CC would actually be brought to heroics now that everyone has the same CC... Except, then classes don't feel unique anymore.

The true way to make a successful MMO is to just make it as imbalanced as possible so everyone has a use in some scenarios. Then you just keep those scenarios coming often enough that there's a justifiable reason to keep bringing the less than stellar classes. When Mages and Warlocks do the same thing it doesn't really make sense to keep bringing Warlocks if Mages have better damage and CC. But if Mages do more damage at the cost of not having debuffs and the cost of not being able to do certain mechanics that Warlocks can then you end up bringing both because you have use of their diverse abilities.

I honestly love it. It makes each player you walk across seem different and it really made your character feel like YOUR character. Even though it was all clown suits, it gave the game and characters more personality and felt more like an actual RPG. Clown suits may be ugly, but I prefer that to the gear we have now where nearly everything for each armor type looks the same with a different coloration.

Heroics were usually 1 tank, 1 heal, 1 melee, 2 range dps and so that melee spot always required copious dick sucking to land since that melee spot could be filled just as well with a range dps.
If you were a mage, hunter, or warlock you always got invited. Melee classes had to plead their case since essentially unless their DPS was great, they were a wasted slot.

I miss it too. The only time I ever felt pressured to get to max level was when I was 57 on my warrior and there was talk of doing MC in my guild. I dedicated an entire week to finding every quest I could do and grinding in the best spots. Nowadays there's nothing to do in WoW unless you are max level so every side activity feels like a waste of time when you could be getting to 100.

No, players didn't ruin it. Blizzard just went about it the wrong way. Each guild should have had like 10 levels with 10 points to spend in like 50 different guild talents. Then you could just have guilds dedicated to specific things. Like a PvP guild in which players earn more honor, or have access to a cc break spell that does the job of a PvP trinket without having to take a trinket slot. You could have raiding guilds that get more gold for raid kills and extra rolls on boss loot. Instead Blizzard homogenized it like they always do to everything and made the horrible system that players eventually exploited.

Naxx gear was actually highly useful in TBC. 1200 honor points for a Tol Barad win. Winning Tol Barad took 20 minutes faster than fighting for it. Losing Tol Barad even warded a fair 300 honor. Alliance and Horde simply traded off wins for easy honor sets.

A shitty computer I got from my grandmother that had no right playing WoW. A toaster among toasters. It was so bad, the terrain textures got fucked up by my shitty video card, causing them to swap with adjacent tiles like some sort of checkerboard.
It wasn't until an update in BC that I found out that I never had the minimum requirements to begin with, when I couldn't log in anymore without the game crashing. Tech support said my card had like, 1/8th the memory it needed.
