That's what it should be by default, sectioning off the community by map and mode compatibility is a good way to kill off your game.
Happened with COD4 and MW2.
They actually have some hype surrounding the game, it's mutliplat and they're releasing it within a week of COD and Battlefield

The developers actually mentioned this and how it hurt the first game a lot. I think they're just doing cosmetic stuff like Titan paint and stuff as paid DLC (maybe, just guessing based off the deluxe edition's bonuses and the other pre-order bonus)

Prob an experiment, since free DLC is unheard of nowadays when it was to be expected 15 years ago. They may think that in itself will generate hype in the social media advertising

Like shit, I know they were talking about Battletech, but they have to realize that people are just as aware of Gundam and Patlabor as Mechwarrior.

that being said Titanfall is way better than COD.
so much fun movement stuff and cool looking characters and mechs.

For a game that absolutely has mecha nerds in the design team, it still sucks that their advertising spokesman thought he would win points by distancing the game from what could easily be an important player base. It doesn't even make sense, Titans are basically just slow and clumsy Scopedogs. It's also telling that the word mech isn't in any of their promotional material.
I just want something to tide me over until Armored Core 6.

The reason they dont want people calling them mechs is just branding. They wanted to get the point across to not associate Titans with slow lumbering mechanical robots.
They wanted people to understand the mech gameplay to be just shooter gameplay on a larger literal scale, the way it still feels natural. Its nothing to be angry about, its just a marketing choice
