I kind agree with this but I am a PC+PS4 idort, the games just aren't worth missing out on, the only people to somehow struggle with playing the games they want to this gen have to be poor as fuck or have irrational loyalty ties to PC hardware.
I've enjoyed a number of the best PC exclusive games this gen from Stellaris to Samorost 3 to Kerbal Space Program while even playing PC ports like Valkyria Chronicles and Zestria but at the same time I didn't miss out on Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4 and Gundam Breaker 3 either.
I am well aware the PC games I enjoy could run on a toaster and since I largely don't play multiplatform AAA's I don't need to buy an expensive PC and then lock myself to the one platform. The PS4 has tons of stuff this year from The Last Guardian to Gravity Rush to FFXV to Gran Turismo Sports that when people say PS4 has no games worth buying a console for I seriously question their taste.

I wouldn't if I were you. I purchased a Samsung Blu-Ray about 3-4 years ago. Good price, lots of features and the smart TV apps that all the cool kids use.
The problem? Sony, Samsung and other major brands have a built in check that spots illegally downloaded films. If your movie is found to be illegal, it will either mute it, or stop playback. This shit is very frustrating, since, it's starting to happen to a lot of my Blu-Ray downloads.
If you care about this, you should check out some of the brands that don't have 'Cinavia'. It's totally worth the extra $50-80 if you can find one.

Im not going to go into a huge amount of depth, but most games for ps4 dont have splitscreen multiplayer, dying light, battlefield even games that could like overwatch dont. unless were counting xbl or psn games but most of those are ported to pc.
as far as hooking up 4 controllers, microsoft has a wireless receiver for xbox 360 controllers and most new steam games detect them automatically.
realistically your point on price cant be disputed but id say hardware changeout rate is a bit high most games can still run on medium with an older card which would be ps4 xbone equivilent.
and if you have trouble connecting it to tv just run a 50 ft hdmi cable (thats max distance before data loss) which should be adequate for most rooms.
your point on emulation is spot on most games are painful to get running but you can play them in a steady 30 fps without input lag like in their console counterparts. something like super mario 64 has frame drops alot and although the controls are good theyre even better on pc due to these improvements at the cost of minimal visual issues.
I play alot of coop games on my pc when friends come over. broforce, crawl, mount your friends or even shit like castlecrashers will work fine. and its a much better medium of you friends can wait the extra minute for your pc to boot up and for you to setup the game.
convenience with pc is all in how u make it. mines hooked up to 2 monitors and my tv and i ran the hdmi cables through a matrix so when my gf wants to play wiiu i can switch it without moving anything. add a 30 dollar shitty wireless keyboard with trackpad and you can use it as a giant remote for it all.
ill admit that steam isnt my first choice, and i hate games that are only avalible through there but youll have the same issue of splitscreen on console unless you have friends comming over with a ps4 and extra tv.

Yeah, that would be pretty ideal but at the same time an industry without Sony or Nintendo or even Microsoft in the picture where the market would be at the mercy of big AAA publishers like Ubisoft, Square and EA can fuck right off. Console manufactures are more than just hardware vendors, they sport much needed software development networks and continue to sustain some of our most beloved game franchises.

My brother and I built our own pcs after getting fed up of shelling out money for consoles (we were poor too so we used to buy them second hand, after a few years).
There is literally no reason to have a console over a pc.
The only possible thing that consoles HAD was couch co-op/multiplayer, and the consoles are actively restricting or removing that.
I already switched to PS4 from PC at the start of this gen, I already have 14 games and there are are 30+ more games I want that are coming out plus a handful that are out already.
Meanwhile, the only thing I'm looking forward to on PC is Bannerlord.

Considering graphics cards are getting cheaper and more powerful by the year I don't think this will stand a chance.
For example the RX 480 coming out is like £250 for the more powerful version and has the performance just shy of a 980.
Furthermore why would I pay for online? Why would I abandon my price savings on games for a brand? Like I recently dropped into GAME and most of the PS4 games were touching £60. Meanwhile I can go home, hop on Instant Gaming and get the same title for £20, plus I will be able to play online without a fee, download whatever mods I like, get superior performance and use a controller or keyboard and mouse whenever I feel like it.
Consoles have a long way to go before they can even compete, and the first area they have to look at is price.

I'd say thier plan backfired pretty bad because NEO existing is the reason why I am jumping ship to PC. Now that I have to incrementally upgrade my shit, what's the point of owning a console? I might as well game on PC where I'll have to do the same but will be guaranteed to run games at a higher resolution and framerate.
