The Dragonball series was never good.

Me and my friend marathoned all of DB, DBZ and GT over the course of five months on DVD last year and I remember one of my favorite time frames in the show is the garlic episodes, even though they aren't super crazy strong villains, that part of the series has a really "epic" feel to it
Getting through the last few seasons of DBZ and the movies was daunting and I watched all of GT but I had almost no interest in it
