Like yeah, I get it, your first open world rpg/elder scrolls entry is gonna have a certain nostalgia factor but for christ sakes try to remain just a LITTLE bit objective.
I tried to like oblivion when it was released because morrowind was GOAT it's just so bad, it's a downgrade in every single way, even combat and this is not fucking bait, get it through your peanut skulls, simplistic but tight and fast combat > simplistic but floaty, slow and faceroll combat.
Still remember feeling sad about what TES had become when my friend told me I should stay at lvl 1 to beat the game cause it's super easy that way a few days after release.

Currently in my play through I'm thinking about making spells of Reflect and Absorb, and trying to make it so I can pop them off quickly in the heat of combat..but It's really tough considering the half-second delay on casting
It almost turns all combat into a turn-based game, where i find myself shuffling spells every half second in combat
I'm really trying to mix up the magic system but it's tough, I wish it were more fluid..i mean, we can block with a shield any time we want, but we have to cast a spell with loading-time, duration, and cost with we want to stop an incoming spell
level 8 currently, most combats are ended with a drain 100 health for 1 second spell...

I don't see your point. Tabletop dice systems are okay, they ought to simulate 'luck', so you can roll a dice instead of counting a fucking dozen factors to decide the outcome. It is a way of simulating real life. Games don't fucking need dice systems (at least not to that scale), since they can actually simulate some parts of a battle, and I guess in the future games will be able to simulate battles even better so there will be even less random factor.
So tell me, why should games simulate tabletop games instead of simulating what tabletops are trying to simulate?

Oblivion is honestly the worst game in the series. It was my first of the Elder Scrolls games but after playing the others such as Daggerfall, Morrowind and even Skyrim there is really no reason to go back to a game as bad as Oblivion.
