not as long as Nintendo keeps slapping their brand on handhelds. They might license out more stuff to mobile platforms for a few games like they already do, but they still more or less run the niche.
Wouldn't be surprised if Sony dropped out, considering the Vita barely sold outside of Japan.

Japan is keeping it afloat, there'll probably be a 3ds sequel, vita sequel is questionable. NA wouldn't deserve a vita sequel, but with the vita is getting more games than the 3ds thanks to a strong japanese 3rd party developer scene.

How long will they continue to sell Vita slims new? I bought a used original model a few years ago but it had these annoying little scratches in the middle of the screen I didn't notice until I got it and they drive me nuts.
Also I tried a friend's Vita slim before and it felt very nice.

I literally hacked the 3ds and played through dozens of games and I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

My thoughts exactly. Yeah there are hardware improvements and the extra buttons/control nub, but it wasn't a big enough change to justify buying one brand new when you know they're going to pull the same shit they did with the DSi. Heck Xenoblade isn't even an exclusive.
