Sigma remembering being with Diana for 3 years or whatever (on top of everything else he knows) put a really odd spin on everything, though. It's like even his own attachment to Diana is a bootstrap paradox.
The ending sucked sure, but don't get me wrong, the rest of the game is god tier. Some pretty fun puzzle rooms like the Study, Pod, and Lounge, a great soundtrack, and an excellent plot. Pretty good, and better than VLR in my opinion. I just wish Uchi could have completed it.

I really liked the Transporter room, the math puzzle made me feel smart. I did think it was weird that they mention Base 13 even though you don't have to do anything with it at all.
The only problem is I didn't notice the final panel because for some ungodly reason it doesn't open up on examination until halfway through the room, so I spent a good 15 minutes wondering what the fuck to do because I had nowhere to input the final password.
It seems like there were a lot of moments like that in general.

Imagine being one of them, pouring 45 years into this and sacrificing your own life to focus entirely on the success of the AB project, and then you SHIFT over to this day to try to prevent the outbreak of Radical-6 and you just get told that you lack enough desire to protect the world.

999 is an excellent standalone game.
VLR is responsible for ruining that standalone feeling, but still a good game, might be my favourite if I think of ZE as a series. Problem is, it introduces a million fucking things, many of which are incredibly different in tone and theme to 999.
The series then literally died for a bit. It was never going to finish.
With little budget, hopes and dreams, they made ZTD and had to try and wrap up all the retarded shit they introduced in VLR. I feel they did a good job with what they had, but some people will never be happy, and there are a few issues.
It's the weakest of the series, but still a good game.
I feel like it's also conceptually the strongest, but the execution was a little off.

I think it's to keep up the whole "Zero is one of the participants" twist we've seen in every game. Technically he's a participant, yes, but we just don't know he is until the end. It stays a twist while remaining consistent with the series' formula.
