The update has to drop first.
After that the beta will run for a week.
After that the mods are released.
Before ANY of that, Beth and Sony need to hammer out major compatibility issues that should have been resolved LONG LONG before it was ever promised for PS4.
In short its a shitshow, and ONE WEEK is just lying to yourself. DESU, even when it does become available we can look forward to far less mods for PS4 as modders won't want to deal with the hassle.

Might as well be cancelled considering console mods have a low size limit (across all mods), can't use external plugins like F4SE / SweetFX, overhaul mods with multiple options / installers, and the hardware is running at the limit anyway so nothing graphically or processor heavy.

Xbone is basically PC, so the fact it works on a PC is hardly news.
What I'm interested in is if Bethesda is just stuck on mindset of last generation when XBox was in lead. So they're still demoing the game using XBone, optimizing game better for it, and prioritizing XBone modding despite more people owning F4 on PS4.
Or maybe XBone is just easier to develop for. Would be weird, since unlike before the consoles are pretty fucking identical.

This is a good thing though. All anyone needs to see why competition is the best thing for video games in general is look at the PS+ lineup quality over the past years versus the Game w/ Gold or whatever Microsoft has.
Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to try to get people to buy Xbone's and Sony is trying to coast.

They actually recorded death sounds for children, as if they were trying to help people make killable children mods. if I fuck up and the mods I install crash my machine I can go back and fix the game via various means, backed up files, clean install, etc.

It can't be, you're assuming it's a bug - it's not.
The scripting engine in the game simply doesn't allow you to do the things necessary for the mod to work, thus the dependence on a script extender, that allows for more flexibility that the game would normally provide.
Script extenders run alongside the game, as a separate executable, it simply cannot happen on console duet othe locked down nature of the devices.

Man, I have to admit, my Xbone being objectively better than the PS4 at something is making me feel happy.
So right now, Xbone has a better online system than PS4, better backwards compatibility than the PS4, and better modding capabilities than the PS4, but the PS4 is slightly stronger than the Xbone.
When the Neo comes out maybe I'll get it and complete this gen's collection, but damn I feel good saving the PS4 for last.
