Not really.
When you eat the corpse you get 3 flat drops based on the normal table, the only 100% ones are some specific break rewards.
So in that it's near identical to how MH handles it, just sped up.
However, with Resurrection at least, you can use the Backup's support ability to get more rewards at the end of the mission on top of what you would normally get.

MH was much easier to figure out because of better animations leading to discovering the tells/patterns of the monsters. In GE psp all I could do was try to evade, get a hit in and suddenly the screen was full of whatever AOE the aragami chose at the time for a nice 50-60% hp.
If its the same in resurrection which I will assume it is, how do I even begin to form a playstyle?

Resurrection Aragami attacks are a bit better since animations are clearer for each attack, but the game's pace is much faster than MH so you have to keep that in mind anyways.
Aragami in Resurrection are more aggressive as well, at least from what I could tell, though generally I just sidedash every time an attack is coming and shoot them when they're trying to run away. It's not really rocket science, your playstyle in Resurrection just has to be more twitchy than in other games from the same genre.

Hammers are as strong as buster swords but has no range so you gotta get up in their face.
R+Square starts the ignition. Pressing square after causes you to keep swinging the hammer until you stop or run out of stamina. Pressing triangle causes you to do a swing that propels you forward. Pressing R+Square again does a slam. You can also dash or jump cancel out of attacks with the right timing.
One thing you can do is either stun or down an Aragami and go full ORAORAORA on them until they get back up. It's especially useful if you're within one of their weak spots.
Unfortunately, and this goes for all the GE2 weapons in this game, because of the lack of Blood Arts that let you customise your moves, the weapons feel pretty shallow in this game since you don't have a whole lot of options. Still I think it's better than just having short blade/blade/bigger blade as your only melee weapons.

I just think of them as long lasting placeholder modules.
For instance in that example I posted I could have removed module 3 and just link 2 and 4 directly but change 4's condition to trigger after 2 fades and I'd get the same result... if my bullet stop at module 4. But I need 5 and 6 to happen too and I can't set them to trigger to 0.2 seconds after 2 or 0.5 seconds after since the shot would have already disappeared by then and they end up not happening. I'd just be wasting OP.
Also they have neat features like that one which slowly faces at the enemy to make sure the modules that come after it will fire right at the enemy.
Oh and 'Normal Time' means it last exactly 1 second which is why all 3 modules that come after it can trigger.

Don't forget you actually have to work for it if you really want to make good use of those 30 seconds. Sure you can just pick one oath to fulfil and call it a day but you get shit all for a multiplier. And if you fail to fulfil your oath in 30 seconds it drains your whole meter and you gotta build it up again.
Do wish you could activate it more than once or twice during the fights you can use it. I think limiting it to what you can activate it on is enough.

Nope. Resurrection is literally Burst with a fresh coat of HD and improvements to the core gameplay, but because of plot reasons a lot of mechanics from 2 can't be added into Resurrection so they gave us Predator Styles instead, which aren't in Rage Burst. The Personal Ability system and the character episodes are things from 2 though IIRC.
You also have to remember that Burst is a 6 year old game and that the sequel came out 3 years after, with Rage Burst coming out a year and a bit after that.
