Manhattan Project is a pretty good 2.5D PC action sidescroller. The Duke game on N64 that isn't a Duke 3D port is pretty good, and the two PS1 Tomb Raider-esque Duke games are okay, but some people don't like them too much.

If Kaiser implemented a quicksave/load feature into his Powerslave EX port, it would be godlike. The game's poison floors kill you in one touch and that can be very, very long into a level and it's so frustrating.

There was this one place, I think it was the mines, where you had a poison pit and an elevator (which could kill you instantly) and that part just frustrated me so much I stopped playing. Shame too, because I loved everything else about the game, but the lack of saving is just retarded.
