What does /v/ think of pic related?
>>
A masterpiece
>>
>>343259973
I am conflicted: want to play a "good" version of the game, but refuse to get a Micro$oft console.
>>
>>343260302
The PC port is perfectly fine if you download DPFix.
>>
>>343260302
Original is better?
>>
>>343260447
>>343260571
Director's Cut added pointless narration bullshit.
>>
>>343260302
Ps3 version was fine for me.

This is probably one of my favorite games.
>>
It was definitely a unique experience.
>>
The gameplay is so fucking clunky. The movement, the shooting felt awful.
Im glad I stuck with it and finished it but it was a real struggle at times
>>
>>343259973
a hidden gem with super clunky controls but with alot of atmosphere.
comfy game
>>
>>343260447
I crashed every time I went to the map or try to exit it. I had to drop it because I stopped using the map and got super lost.
>>
>>343260447
Not true. DPFix does fix stuff but it can't actually make the game run more stable. It depends on the alignment of stars and shit.

If it crashes on your machine, it's gonna keep crashing on your machine. So far there's no fix.
>>
Deadly premonition has one of the coolest MC i've seen in any game.

10/10 - would grab a beer with Zach
>>
>>343262536
This.

The gameplay is downright terrible. The graphics are sub par for even a PS2 title.

But its soo worth it for an amazing experience.
>>
>dp.exe has stopped working

Every time it's crashed so far I've found a way to get it working again, but holy shit is it a mess. Still worth the $0.87 I paid for it, though. It's like a poorly written X-Files episode with a ton of goofy charm.
>>
My toaster isn't compatible with this so should I get Director's Cut on PS3 or original on 360?

I picked it up on a whim after a friend suggested it to me.
I loved it and it ran perfectly with out a single crash ever.
I only found out later that the PC port is unstable as shit and has the chance to just crash nonstop. And that my friend had recommended it as a joke, and his real advice was "bro, just watch a lets play of it, its the same thing"
>>
>>343264267
I meant framing device. The story becomes a story in itself, told by older protagonist to his daughter.

What the fuck? Why would you tell something like that to a child??

I'm not surprised that he told all that shit to a child.

Terrible SFX, lack of enemy variation, and horseshit driving controls (along with infamous PC technical performance) mar what is otherwise an interesting lower-end project with fantastic dialogue and ambition that delivers a memorable adventure without any pacing drops.

This game... Well - it's a grower, not a shower.
You should give it another shot, give it a bit more time and just embrace the sheer lunacy of it all - it's totally worth it.
Don't you agree, Zach?

>>
>>343269717
>He made progress but he is still kind of crazy

This is actually all you can ever hope for with mental illness.

There is no cure for crazy. Only treatment and coming to terms with it.
>>
Garbage game but I fucking love it, it's on my top 10 games
>>
>>343269789
That made me feel a little sad.
>>
>>343270286
Mental illness usually does that.

If you want to get all self-help, you can think of overcoming mental issues like breaking a bone. A period of pain, a long road to recovery, eventually the bone ends up stronger.

But it's not really like that.
>>
best game of the 360/ps3 era
>>
>>343269789
So you came to terms with it.
>>
Haven't played it. Avoided it because a friend of mine who disappeared for a while, then reappeared a crazy SJW, was obsessed with it. She also praised Borderlands for having a fat female character. Didn't say anything else about it. So I really don't trust her judgement.
>>
>>343271337

>>
>>343271476
That's not what I was implying at all. She never said ANYTHING about what actually made Borderlands good. There was a fat girl who wasn't the butt of every joke and that was all that mattered to her. So I take any opinion she has on gaming with a heaping cup of salt.
>>
>>343270809
Not quite the same as getting a virus and then getting over it, though. It's never going to go away.

Mental illness can either be like an allergy, something you can avoid and take medicine to deal with but not cure, or like cancer, making you less and less functional over time.
>>
>>343271772
It's pretty childish to completely invalidate someone's opinion because of their criticism of a single game being founded in their personal beliefs.

The moral of the story is - fuck literally everyone else in terms of their opinions on video games. You're the one playing them, so only your feelings are valid regarding it. If they don't like it but you do, then at the end of the argument you get to go and play that game regardless.
>>
love and hate this "game"

wish it was a show instead (and dont tell me to watch twin peaks, i started watching that shit and got bored, this games protag was a hell of a lot more interesting)

the gameplay was shitty RE4 with even shittier driving and meaningless shit inbetween, it was made bearable again by the conversations between York and Zack and the other NPCs

Actually, I've never been diagnosed with a mental illness. I don't really have the personality to self-diagnose based on me skimming wikipedia articles, either.

I've just dealt with a lot of people with mental illness.

It is kind of a drag that people view mental illness objectively worse than physical illness, mostly for the reasons I've stated. But it's understandable, it makes people uncomfortable, and the nature of it means that anybody could end up with mental illness.
>>
>>343273864
But who decides who is mentally ill, and who is not? Who holds the power to decide who is undesirable?
>>
>>343274440
I don't know, a psychiatrist?
>>
>>343259973
It's incredibly unique if nothing else.
>>
D4 SEASON 2 WHEN
>>
>>343274440
In the modern world, most societies put their faith in people understood as experts in the field to determine whether one is mentally ill or not. This is largely the same as regular illness, except mental illness is not as physically available.

While mental illness is viewed far more sympathetically now, those with it are still viewed far more negatively. Yet, this is also a time where such diagnosis is much more common.

Psychologists and psychiatrists hold the power to diagnose, but it is up to the general public to decide how they feel about them.

The schizophrenic can be just as normal as the next guy, they just have to take their medicine. And the majority of people in the country have to take their medicine anyway, for whatever reason.

There is no such thing as mental illness. It's just something Marxist and the left invented so it can demoralized people and have no opposition to Globalization such as welfare and entitlement programs so it creates lazy people and people with no virtues.

>>343275157
You mean the same psychiatrist that are paid by the left and government to tell them what they want to hear to further the new world order agenda?

Always play games.

Watching stuff on YT is NEVER the same.
>>
>>343279084
But what about the crashes? I'm hearing that the patch doesn't actually fix things.
>>
>>343279030
If you're technologically savvy, sure play it. Otherwise it's 50/50 - DP's stability really is fucking garbage, and any period longer than 15 minutes without a save point was nerve-wracking.

I enjoyed it, a lot, enough to 100% it. But recommending it to other people, eeeeeeh, it's a Drakengard situation.
>>
>>343279479
There's one spot that crashes every time near the art gallery but somehow reinstalling physx solves that.

Besides that it crashed like two times in over 40 hours of playing so it's not that bad.
>>
>>343279479
I never used DPfix when I played through this game.

I only ever used the technical sticky on the steam forums whenever I encountered a problem. The main problem with this game are crashes during certain segments of the game but usually restarting the computer fixes it.

I feel like the whole last part of the game was terrible, but it was at least 7-8/10 up to that point.

I just wanted it to stay mostly about a quirky insane FBI agent and his ragtag gang of Police officers solving a murder, but instead I got a terribly designed fight against a giant man in overalls who was always the most obvious suspect.

IIRC the Director's Cut makes the fighting easy, reduces enemy health or some shit, which is the biggest problem of the original, it really streamlines the boring fighting sections and lets you get to more of the fun parts of the game.
