I like games with fast-paced action and no bullshit. Minimal story if I can help it.
So I tend to avoid most RPGS and stick to FPS and Roguelikes, some tactical games like Frozen Synapse.
I can play a game like Dragons Dogma and respect it, but I know I'm not going to spend alot of time with it.
I sometimes wonder if I truly have a backlog or just a giant list of shit games I just dont feel like playing.

Think of really cheap games as permanent rentals. Don't pick up 20 at once, obviously. I never feel bad about picking up games for $5 or less. Always 1-2 at a time every few weeks(Humble Bundle is good for this.)
But as an old fag I remember back in the day when renting games for $5 for a few days at Blockbuster was the best reward I could get in my childhood. THE ENTIRE WEEKEND, WOW? Now trying out something that looks interesting for $2 is pretty easy especially with all this disposable income.
And hell, I've refunded a few games during this Steam Sale already. You're god damn right I'll TAKE my $2 back if the game sucks that much dick out the gate.

Depends on the games
for mostly new games or triple AAA, definitely mark it down somewhere on your list and wait 4-6 months for it to go on sale again. If you care enough you'll get it, even cheaper possibly. Indie shits? buy it and try it. You got two hours to decide if you like it then refund. old games, if it's cheap, go for it, if its not then definitely look more into to see if you'd actually like it or if it just sounds interesting
