Will there ever be a DBZ game where you can actually walk around the world and explore/do things?
I haven't played xenoverse but I think it would be cool if there were some other game mode besides fighting. I know that sounds like heresy for a DBZ game but it gets boring eventually

They're actually introducing that in the new hub world for Xenoverse 2. It's 7 times as big as toki toki city or whatever shithole they dumped us on in the first xenoverse, and there are race specific locations (portal to a sppecial namek cave for namekians, inside of the original Buu, time portal to planet Vegeta, as examples) along with other hidden area's you can explore. You can't fly at first, though, so you'll have to make progress before you can explore freely

Not that anon but I just recently started doing a PS4 playthrough so I have a character to export into XV2 and the servers have been generally just fine.
If I'm remember correctly, you need to finish the Saiyan saga for the internet stuff to unlock. The game will very blatantly tell you that you can now access the online features, though you're automatically playing in the Single Player server so you may need to hit "exit game" in the main menu and then log into the multiplayer server if you want to play specifically with your buddy.
