To be honest from what I saw when I was living in Seoul they didn't really care about him until he won Evo because fighting games aren't Korean. The Japanese knew him more than the Koreans did.
SFV has just been nonstop Infiltration and its the first time SF is getting any real play in Korea so having it go so hard in Tokido's favor just raised a ruckus.
